She’s bold, a little bitter, and definitely drains my wallet… but so do all my exes. ☕💅

As a loyal customer, I visit this Starbucks nearly every day with my 1-year-old baby and friends who are also mothers. We always purchase high-priced drinks such as iced matcha lattes and Frappuccinos, leave tips, stay for short periods (no more than 30 minutes), clean up after ourselves, and never use outlets, Wi-Fi, or ask for refills. This Starbucks has always felt like a little escape for us, paradise — a moment of peace in our hot Florida day — until now.
On this visit, I came in with my baby, a visibly pregnant friend, and her child. She ordered a matcha and asked for two pup cups for her baby, which was kindly given. I ordered a Frappuccino, but forgot to request a pup cup — something I’ve always done in the past, my 1 year old can’t have anything else there, but she is always so happy with her whipped cream, so I am, because I can calmly enjoy my drink and talk to a friend. When I kindly asked the barista, his name wasCarlos, if I could have one for my baby, he immediately refused and mocked me loudly, stating that pup cups are “only for dogs.”
When I explained I was a paying customer and willing to pay extra for the whipped cream, he continued laughing, loudly saying that “dogs are dogs and babies are babies,” in a condescending tone that made me feel degraded and disrespected. I was stunned. I returned to my table to retrieve my card so I could offer to pay — but Carlos abruptly dropped what he was doing and ran behind the bar.
At that point, the manager came out, but instead of listening or helping, she accused me of cursing at the barista— which is completely false. I am always polite, and the staff there has seen me enough times to know my character. Her immediate decision to believe the employee and turn on me — a regular, respectful customer — was shocking and deeply hurtful. I felt not only dismissed, but discriminated against, as though mothers with babies are not valued in your store.
As I tried to calmly explain what happened, Carlos repeatedly interrupted the conversation, raising his voice, making it impossible for the manager and me to speak normally. When my pregnant friend spoke up to support me and confirm what had happened, the manager threatened to have us removed from the store if we didn’t stop asking questions — simply for asking why I couldn’t purchase or receive a small cup of whipped cream.
It was humiliating. I felt publicly shamed, ganged up on, and treated as if I had done something wrong or aggressive — when all I did was politely request the same thing I’ve received many times before. I cannot express how dehumanizing it was to be laughed at, accused, and silenced — especially in front of my child, my friend, and a store full of people.
To make matters worse, the stress of the encounter caused my pregnant friend’s blood pressure to spike, and I had to take her to the doctor immediately after. This should never happen at a place we go to feel welcome and safe.
I understand pup cups were designed for dogs, that dog owners will choose Starbucks over other coffee shops, but it makes no sense — and feels discriminatory — to deny a small cup of whipped cream to a child when we are paying full price for our drinks, tipping, and behaving respectfully and I NEVER take any whipped cream on my drinks. We also choosing Starbucks for the same reason dog owners do. Why are customers with dogs treated with more hospitality than mothers with babies? Is this really your policy or poorly trained workers?
To be dismissed, mocked, falsely accused, and threatened with removal for a completely reasonable and polite request is simply unacceptable. It was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had in any establishment, anywhere.
We filled a formal complaint about Humiliating and Discriminatory Treatment at this exact location on June 18 at around 6pm.

One of the employees Carlos is always very rude and last time on Wednesday afternoon he had an argument with my wife because for some reason after we purchased our drinks he didn’t want to provide us the pup cup. He looked like he was high. Manager came but only started to argue with us too not solving anything. Very disappointing treatment for customers as we go there almost everyday. I would suggest other coffee shops around.

I ‘ve been living in the area for a while. It used to be an exceptional service here!! Crew 2021-23 was just perfect!! Even if new stuff could have messed up something, there were always other people to deal with the situation gracefully. Baristas always did a great job.
Now it is a disappointing experience here. I guess there still one or two good baristas from that time. But you need to be lucky to latch up with their shift. The rest crew is constantly changing and all are RUDE, slow and not following the recipies….
Still giving this location four starts just because I love this place and hope they will send a good manager here!!!
Too loud at that time there was a lot of kids
