I should have read the reviews before coming here. I only gave it one star so that I could add my 2 cents. My husband and I stopped by Junkanoo Taste "Bahamian" Seafood Restaurant on the way up to Tampa and let's just say... i'm still on the toilet!! I am Bahamian and this was the worst representation of "Bahamian" food ever. We ordered the fried snapper meal with mac n cheese and pigeon peas n rice. The snapper was so overcooked and dried out, I couldn't even eat it. The mac n cheese was overcooked and dry, no season. I don't know what version of pigeon peas n rice they follow, but it's horrible. We also ordered the conch salad. That's what has me on the toilet. I should've know better when the conch salad was swimming in liquid. That's not authentic. It's as if they added water to the conch salad because it was absent the taste of lime, no season, no hot pepper. And they had the nerve to call it spicy, smh. My husband ate the fried fish sandwich, which was the only thing we could stomach. It still doesn't say much because it was just as dry as everything else. The worst part is this meal was almost $60, came out to $58 and change. I might as well have handed them three 20's and walked away. Please don't waste your time or money here. Go to Conch Heaven instead.

I was doing some work there about 2 weeks ago. Trying to fix the lights. I went into the back kitchen to check the circuit breakers.
This was the filtiest kitchen I have ever seen. The vents over the stoves were covered with greece. Garbage, wilt, greece all over the place. Buckets, mops, brooms, garbage cans all over the place.
Dirty sinks, dirty dishes, dirty water in the sink. I opened a food closet, the food was old, smelly and most of it was spoiled. The clean dishes smelled very bad. I OPENED A CLOSET AND THERE WAS A DEAD RAT ON THE FLOOR.
I do not know how any sane person can work in a place so filty. This place needs to be close down immediately for health and sanitary reasons.
If any of their customers goes back there they will throw up. THIS PLACE IS FILTHY, FILTHY, FILTHY AND NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN BY THE CITY.

The time for the food to come out is ridiculous. The cook isn't really familiar with Bahamian dishes, They don't make stewed conch or Grouper Boiled Fish and Grits. They need to just shut the doors.

Please read the Comments! This is not a Bahamian Restaurant! Walked in and the smell alone made me turn around!

Definitely ruining the name of our native Bahamian dishes.

PLEASE CLOSE DOWN !!!! This “Bahamian Food” was horrible. My husband is Bahamian and was very disappointed with the taste & quality of the food! What a disgrace to the Bahamian culture.

There were no other customers, that should have made me aware, but I tried anyway. The conch in the salad was in large chunks, unchewable. The scorched conch was fried well but had zero seasoning.

I ordered the Conch dinner and lobster. Called to order told 20 minutes, and need up waiting 40 minutes.

I haven’t been in the Bahamas in years just wanted a meal but of course my order is missing things that I ordered and paid for, when I called they didn’t want to help/provide any compensation or help with a solution because of something they did wrong. I paid for 60 dollars worth of food and tipped, and I only received 40 dollars worth.Thank you for the horrible experience.

My cracked conch was hard, and the fries were salty, greasy, and overcooked. The main issue I have is inconsistency. It's always hit or miss with this restaurant. The same issue prevailed prior to the business name change from Bahamian Reef. I'm eager to patron because I love Bahamian food, but improvement is needed. I've order in-store and through door dash. Given many opportunities because it's hard to find authentic Bahamian food in Ft. Lauderdale.

My husband is Bahamian so I was looking for a place to take him as a surprise. Well the surprise ended up being on me...this resturant is NOT Bahamian. Walked in and the restuarant is boasting Bahamian Flags & Bahamian Coat of a Arms. There were no customers and we had to call out to get someone's attention from the kitchen area. A staff memeber came out to help us so we placed an order of a Grouper Dinner (Steamed) and Seafood Combo Dinner (Shrimp & Steamed Grouper). After we paid then a 2nd person came from the kitchen (a cook) to get the order and the lady who took our order and the cook were speaking Creole. The lady who took our order later told us the restaurant was under new ownership. Well turns out the is a Haitian restaurant wearing a Bahamian disguise. We like Haitian food but were disappointed because we were deceived into thinkig it was an authentic Bahamian restaurant. The rice was NOT Bahamian Rice & Peas and it tasted like it had been reheated several times, we both ordered steamed Grouper but it definitely was NOT Grouper. The taste & look of the fish was like Talapia. My order also came with Shrimp which were fried hard and tough. If you want good Bahamian food do NOT go here and if you want good Haitian food do NOT go here.

Changing the name does NOT change the food. This is NOT Real Bahamian food. Disgusting. My husband and Mother in law (Bahamians)and I , was so disappointed. We took our ladies here for a Mother's day dinner from Church and we were so embarrassed.... Also Management was rude.I heard about the disappointment from everyone for weeks.

The waitress was very slow!!! We had to repeat our order several times. She never brought us utensils and we didn’t get drinks until 30 minutes later after we had to ask. The potato salad was terrible and the couch fritters wasn’t that good. However, the cracked conch was good & tinder. It took them almost an hour to bring the food so you can order and go shopping. Maybe it’ll be ready. We were the only people there so it shouldn’t have taken that long!!! I had to call the restaurant to ask her to bring our check because she was in the back forever!!!I pray they get their act together.
