Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard

The overall environment would have been pleasant except for a certain employee, didn’t get her name, was rude, had a bad attitude, and the customer service was awful. Overall bad experience. The ice was very mid. Wouldn’t come here again. Would have given zero stars if i could.

Last night, on 9/01/2024, my friends and I went to Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard at 9461 Harding Ave, hoping for a better experience after the disappointing and discriminatory encounter I had at a nearby restaurant. Unfortunately, we were met with more unprofessional and rude behavior.

When we kindly asked the two ladies working there if they had a bathroom, they responded rudely, saying it wasn’t working. Not long after, these employees started talking about us in Spanish, not realizing that we understood the language. One of them even made hand gestures simulating hitting, which is incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful.

After experiencing such rudeness, we decided not to purchase anything and left everything on the counter. I will never return to this location. The behavior of the staff was unacceptable, and it seems like the entire area has an issue with respect and professionalism.

The gentleman working tonight was very pleasant and friendly. I recommend this stand for Italian ice. Wonderful!

Ellen was very nasty, the management doesn't know what they were doing, and their portions were incredibly small.

Good Italian ice and yogurt, ice cream shop on Surfside. All kosher due to high concentration of the Jewish faith in the area. Good prices. Tasty, creamy ice cream!

We called and asked when they closed as we were a 20 minute drive away and they said 11. So we showed up at 10:47 and they said they had started closing and weren’t serving anymore. It was very disappointing as we drove this far for it and the kids seemed to not know what they were doing.

I like the Rita's brand, but I have a mixed experience with this location. I came here two times for gelati and the taste was a bit inconsistent. The vanilla custard tasted great the first time but the second time on another day, the vanilla custard on the gelati was a bit too soft and started to melt and be runny, also the runny custard's taste was a bit off.Another note of inconsistency was the mango icee flavor. The first time the mango ended up tasting more like pineapple, the second time it tasted more like mango but it still wasn't quite there.
