It is an old run-down hole in the wall. It's got a single half deaf old hippie running the whole thing front of the house and back of the house.
There's no air conditioning just fans, and they don't take credit cards cash only.
With that being said if you skip this place you're a fool.
I had the soup and the Cobra cheesesteak. The soup came out in a paper bowl with a plastic spoon and every single bite was an explosion of absolute delectable flavor. I could eat an entire pot of that soup by itself easily.
The Cheesesteak was beautifully cooked and absolutely packed full of fresh ingredients in some sort of delicious sauce.
If you're looking for ritzy fine dining this is not the place. If you're looking for excellently prepared food at a reasonable cost and you're okay with running to the ATM first you will be absolutely thrilled by every bite you take here.

We’re down here for family vacation and stopped in to Calypso’s last night. It’s a tiny little place that doesn’t look much like a restaurant from the parking lot. Easily the best meal I had while we were here on vacation. I had the tuna tacos - perfectly balanced, fresh and a generous portion of fish. We also shared some she crab soup and some others had the seahorse sandwich. My mother in law had the hogfish tacos and loved them. Order the lemonade! Everything was made fresh to order. Bring cash, no cards accepted but we knew that ahead of time. Will be back again!

Holy crap was this good. We didn’t even have the soup and I was blown away. I would pick this as my last meal. Todd is amazing and should be put on a pedestal.
More than 10years ago i visited calypsos and enjoyed the best food in the keys. As i was coming to the keys again i wanted to recapture this incredible taste and atmosphere, i was delighted to see that the restaurant was still open, even if the location changed the owner/cook didn’t and the incredible food stayed the same ! We eat delicious crab soup and shrimp tacos and last but not least the authentic key lime pie The price is almost too low for this quality !
