Love visiting our family in St Pete and eating here. Best grouper and lobster bisque. Great oysters. New parking charge, and it's not park mobile. Be aware. Lot not owned by restaurant
The oysters were really good, fresh, sweet and briney. The service was great, friendly and helpful wait staff. Calamari was excellent. We had a grouper BLT and that also was excellent. Unfortunately, the fries served with it were cold. We ordered the Neptune fries also. The fries were room temperature at best. We sent them back and they were replaced with slightly warmer fries, but still pretty cold on the second round. There was also a pretty strong odor on the restaurant. I would definitely return.
Set your expectations to low if you decide to dine at Captain Bill's. Our server showed up uninspiring to our table donning a baseball cap on backwards and zero personality. We ordered drinks which came back quickly and were asked what we would like to order (no mention of any specials) and we did so. Albeit we had to flag the server down (he was busy watching the movie Zoolander on the bar TV with the bartender) for utensils, the only highlight were the starter oysters which were delicious. However, the waffle fries with crab dip & calamari were sub-par pub grub with the latter being over breaded and didn't seem to be fresh that day but rather packaged from frozen. The bacon wrapped scallops were simply awful, as the bacon was over cooked and the scallops were like rubber and definitely not fresh. So before you venture inside Captain Bill's, prepare yourself to be underwhelmed with both the food & service.
Never received any silverware- had to go to the waiter station to get our own- waiter never came back to check on us after delivering the food. It was not busy- 6 other people in the entire place and 2 people waiting tables with a bar tender and other staff standing around.
Used to be one of our favorite places for drinks/light bites/dinner. We are not fond of the new scaled down menu. All of our favorites are not on the menu. Would love for them to add back some of the items they removed.
Awesome atmosphere! It did not disappoint. It was just me and my boys tonight and we killed some peel n eat shrimp and 2 lbs of crab legs. Well worth it and live music.
Grilled oysters as a starter were delicious - cooked perfectly! The whole snapper dish made a great presentation and was delicious. Shrimp and grits also very good. Quiet night with small crowd but still had live music. We really enjoyed our meal.
Visited while on vacation at a nearby hotel. Everything was delicious. Especially the crab cake, reminded me more of a pancake shape, wish I could have one now. It was so good!! Also had oysters, fish spread, fried grouper, shrimp ceviche and boiled shrimp. Everything was great. No wait. We went right at opening time. Would recommend.
We were visiting friends who were staying on Treasure Island and randomly stumbled upon this place. We were immediately seated, our waiter was nice and provided us with the daily specials. We ordered quite a bit of food, starting off with the oysters, smoked salmon dip, hush puppies, and coconut shrimp. If you like bloody marys, order one! They're grand in taste and in display (bacon, lots of olives and a salt rim). Overall, service was good, food was great and we left there very satisfied.
We visited as a family in October 2022 whilst visiting Treasure Island. It has an unassuming feel from outside and would be easy to miss. But once inside there is a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were great and we were seated and served quickly. There was a good choice of drinks and the food excellent. We shared a starter of oysters which were very fresh and delicious. My wife and daughter shared the Queen Dag's Feast while I had the Key West Platter. This was the best dinner that we had throughout our 2 week visit to the area. The staff were attentive and checked that the food and drinks were acceptable. There was live entertainment which was good and added to the atmosphere of the restaurant. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit when in the area.

The grouper bites was delicious as well as the coconut shrimp and jambalaya. Service and atmosphere were excellent
Came in for the blackened shrimp or fish tacos listed on Google. They don't have them anymore. They said they've tried updating Google.Cup of Jambalaya was fantastic. Great flavor. A little on the mushy side but didn't bother me. Menu says Jambalaya with Shrimp. The shrimp are those tiny, no flavor ones so if the shrimp is your deciding factor, you should probably pass. Also had a half order of crab legs (full order 4 claws $82.99, no sides). They were good but on the smaller side and overpriced in my opinion. One claw was on great shape, other claw 3 legs were broken, one completely broken off. Not really what I would normally pay $40ish for.Service was fantastic. Very friendly and attentive. Would definitely go back.
First time a Captain Bill's date night with Hubby good can't say anything bad the services was good, and the Chef even came out to the table and check how everything was, Love that. With that said have to go back to for second time with Family and it was 13 of use and the kids were their. All I have to say the chef came out again to check on the table amazing love it. I have to say that keeps me coming back not only for the drinks or the food but the services is 100% on point.Queen
A staple every time we come to Treasure Island. The chargrilled oysters never disappoint. We ordered the grouper bites, and they were unbelievably melting in our mouths! The red snapper was the catch of the day and that was phenomenal as well. My husband ordered the chargrilled A shrimp and the coconut rice is always delicious! The gentleman that shucks the oysters has been there every year we come here, and who knows, he may be Capt. Bill! However, would be great to see some diversity in the wait staff. A must if you are a oyster and/or seafood lover while visiting Treasure Island.
Great food and excellent service!! We ended up here on a recommendation from our hotel or we otherwise would have never found it. The food was delicious and our server was very personable. The portions are huge so share a meal or plan for leftovers.
