Wanted to try something new in the area and figured this bar/restaurant would be good...boy was I wrong. First off we walked in and the place was absolutely dead. Sat down and was handed a menu that was literally food options for the movie theater it was attached to, no drinks or food that was advertised in pictures or online menu. Immediately got up and left without ordering. This is false advertising to the max, would not recommend at all.

This spot is next door to the movie theater in Wellington. It has a drastically reduced menu as of December 2023; the photos you see may not be accurate. We had a veggie burger and wings and there’s a full bar. The service was fine. Convenient after too many hours of shopping.
Best creative cocktail drink I ever had not in any Michelin star restaurants I had ever tried but at this local bar, my bartender actually created my drink unexpectedly, it is smooth ,sweet, elegant flavors mixed harmoniously, just exquisite and unique👌🏻😎

Rude service
Please note - this is no longer a restaurant. When you call, CMX (the movie theater) answers. Apparently you can order food and maybe a cocktail - I was told that sometimes there's a bartender working. The ordering of food is so you can take it into the theater, but you can't eat there. Very disappointing - they had a nice area, indoor/outdoor seating, good food, good cocktails.
Walked in at 5:15 to have snacks and a drink. Bartender immediately said “just so you know we’re about to close” so we left. They were supposed to close at 6. Won’t be back.
Restaurantji Recommends
I've only had bar service here - both while waiting for a movie and also to take into the movie, and both times it was excellent. The bartender was very friendly and had very good recommendations when my preferred bourbon wasn't available, and he always had a generous pour and offered a whiskey rock instead of regular ice. I plan to make it a regular stop before movies and hope to grab some food, too.
This place is a joke. Walked in and the place was empty. The bartender... And let's be honest here, he was so nice and he tried, but he straight up said he did not know how to make any mixed drinks because he was new. I seriously doubt this kid was old enough to even legally serve drinks. And he was completely alone. Totally not his fault and he was doing his best. This is on management. I have serious doubts about the competence of the management of this place and I doubt it will be here much longer. The food was over salted and overcooked as well. This place needs some serious labor board intervention.
Not open on weekdays ….
Cask + Shaker Craft Bar and Kitchen, located in The Mall at Wellington Green, is a favorite spot to meet with friends for enjoying delicious appetizers and wine before catching a movie at the adjacent CMX Cinemas Wellington with which this establishment is partnered. Some of our favorites on the Cask + Shaker menu include crispy fries with Parmesan cheese and black truffle oil, habanero glazed wings with a mango dipping sauce, and fried calamari dusted with chorizo bits and mango aioli and tomato sauce for dipping. The happy hour menu is updated often, which keeps things interesting. For an entree, you can’t go wrong with their churrasco steak, which is topped with chimichurri sauce and served with black beans and rice and plantain crips. We also like their Wagu sliders, which are topped with bacon onion jam and aged cheddar, and are served with Parmesan truffle fries. They have some lovely hand-crafted specialty cocktails, including mojitos (try the Havana Club Añejo Mojito) and a basil lemonade (Tito’s vodka, blueberries, basil and lemon).Cask + Shaker has a great selection of draught beers and wine. We like to enjoy the happy hour selection and then each take a glass “to go” to enjoy at the theater next door. The offerings at Cask + Shaker are great on their own. Add a movie and you have the makings of a fun evening - even on a weeknight - with friends.
Great place for dining hanging out and drinks. Gates.
