Rivales Taqueria & Craft Bar

Edited 2 weeks ago First time here. The service and food were great. Nick was very informative, professional and pleasant. Will definitely return. Here three months later. So sad to see this restaurant go from a five star to not even a star. It is obvious that the owner does not want to run a restaurant only a bar. As we were greeted at the wide open front doors we asked for a table for three. We noticed an employee ( later. Identified as the manager) motioned “no tables”. We were seated at an empty restaurant area with only six people at the bar. There was menu on the table promoting $5 appetizers and drinks. After ordering the server told us that the $5 appetizers were only for people at the bar. The food was sub par to what I expected and luke warm at best. The server was more interested in socializing for co workers than tending to their guess. After receiving the bill I notice that they charged $12 for each appetizers I ordered that if I was at the bar it would only be $5 each. I asked for the manager who I expressed my concern about their false advertisement and quality of food. She blamed it on the owners policy. This explained why no one was seating down eating and only six people at the bar. Clearly owner those not want to run a restaurant and only a bar. First Hint should have been the restaurant next door was full and this one empty. Last time they see me there and good luck.

This place has fallen off a cliff, and it’s embarrassing. I used to come here regularly, but Rivales Wellington is now a perfect example of how to run a restaurant straight into the ground. We walked into an almost completely empty restaurant—always a red flag—and somehow the service was still atrocious. As the hostess was seating us, the bartender (who was apparently supposed to be our server, who ended up being the “manager”) literally started flailing her arms in protest, clearly signaling she didn’t want to serve us. Completely unprofessional and uncomfortable. The hostess had to step in and serve us instead. To top it off, the first glass placed on our table still had someone else’s lipstick on it. Disgusting. They blatantly advertise a $5 happy hour on the tables, but once our appetizers arrived, we were suddenly told the special only applies at the bar and that the price was actually $12. That’s not a misunderstanding—that’s false advertising. If it doesn’t apply, don’t plaster it all over the tables. The food was just as pathetic. My tacos were barely warm, and the burrito was missing multiple ingredients clearly listed on the menu—no cheese, no tomatoes, no onions. Just a bland, sad wrap of nothing. Zero flavor, zero effort. Service? Nonexistent. Our “server” vanished repeatedly to gossip with other employees. It honestly felt like the staff was more focused on their own little party in the kitchen than on the single table they had to take care of—us. When we spoke to the so-called manager, she offered nothing but excuses and passed the blame to the owners. She had no authority, no accountability, and no interest in fixing the situation. She wouldn’t even honor the price they themselves advertised. They’ve officially lost my business. Considering we were the only table in the entire restaurant, I’m not surprised. If this is how they operate, I’d be shocked if Rivales Wellington survives another year.

I was trying to use the restroom last night when a worker younger short Spanish kid with curly hair tried following me into the bathroom, he asked me could he come in the bathroom with me and proceeded to come in I pushed him out the bathroom and told him to get out. The womens bathroom doesn't lock so he kept trying to open it I had to take my purse strap wrap it around the faucet and the door handle to keep it locked
and he still tried to open it. When I came out of the bathroom he was standing with a African American guy with a maroon shirt across from the bathroom i asked the guy who im assuming was the bartender white guy with dark brown hair if there was a manger he said no they had closed. I made my way out to my husband who was waiting outside. Never will come here again. Tried calling the resturant today to notify manager but no one answers the phone. At this point im going to contact the authorities because that kid may hurt a women one day and its crazy to think you may be sexualy assaulted while using a restroom by a staff member.

great Sunday afternoon bar spot

This restaurant is such a hidden gem. I came in here a few days ago with my friend and we had the esquites for our app — by far the best i’ve ever had — tacos were super yummy and at a great price. Great drinks at the bar. Highly slept on spot imo, it’s a must try!

I always choose to sit at the bar and enjoy the convo with the bar staff. As a healthy eater and drinker I appreciate the fact that Jimmy’s “well liquor” is considered high end at other places. I’d say I visit this spot 3/4 times a week.

We love this place! The food is super authentic and always delicious. The prices are great and the decor and ambience are lovely. My husband and I find ourselves returning when we’re in West Palm.
