Reason for only a 3* rating: (1) The Swedish sandwiches are gone. (2) Prices went up considerably, the Köttbullar – good but a smallish portion for that price – up by $5 to now $19.95. Ouch!Seems Johan's Joe has inched towards your average coffee house. I'm disappointed. Is it that Americans who go to a Swedish coffeeshop still want to order American food, not Swedish? Always a pity when a place looses its uniqueness, its differentiator.

Highly recommended. Class, singular local coffee shop, cafe, restaurant. One you don’t wanna miss. For something unique try the cardamom sweet breads. If you like berry preserves you’ll find black currant and other Swedish flavors in their mini-market.

Best coffee in town! Plus the breakfast croissant and Hungarian roll soooo good! The staff--especially Debbie--go out of their way to serve you and make you feel special. I can't say enough positive things about Johan's Joe!

Great find. A perfect meal in a beautiful space with friendly service. I loved the ham & Swiss sandwich on muesli bread and lemon-almond bar.

Lovely Swedish bakery with perfect meals in a beautiful room with friendly service. We enjoyed our lunch especially the Gothenburg Sandwich, Ham & Swiss w Dill Mustard on Muesli Bread and the Lemon Square. Want to go back to try the Swedish meatballs.

Stopped here after searching for places that were open! Glad I did, I love Swedish meatballs (thank you ikea) these were delicious! We cook Swedish pancakes often and these were so soft and the whipped cream was fresh and complimented it well. Staff was attentive and helpful. The restaurant is beautiful very chic and trendy would be nice to come for a brunch! Only thing to think about is that it is on the expensive side for brunch... but you are downtown. We will definitely go back to try other things.

Food was fantastic, bathrooms grossed me out a little though. If that's not on the servers' rotation, I wonder what else isn't.
