For app, we got Mac and the fish dip. Both were good but nothing special. The sourdough bread on the fish dip was a bit too hard for my taste. For entree, we got chicken sandwich, fried chicken, and Brussels sprouts. Chicken sandwich was ok, came with large portion of fries but we barely touched it because it wasn’t very crispy. Fried chicken was decent. The batter didn’t have a taste and the texture was more clumpy. The chicken meat was nice and juicy but doesn’t compare to the tea brine at Batch. Bf and I agreed, the Brussels sprouts is super salty. The only item that Id order again is the pickled vegetable. We visited on Saturday night and the host with the fedora was very friendly. Kevin was our server and he was super sweet and nice. Overall, food was decent/good but not something that’d I’d be screaming to go back to. Service was great though!

If you’re looking for a fantastic brunch spot, do yourself a favor and visit Sassafras! Start your meal with the “Just Baked Cheddar Biscuits”—they're absolutely the bomb and served just out of the oven! You won't regret it. I also ordered the chicken and waffles, which was a great choice and perfectly delicious.
The place was busy, but it was definitely worth it. Sassafras is a great spot to brunch on a Saturday or Sunday, and on your way out, you can enjoy a stroll through the street market nearby (October Season). Highly recommend!

It's rare that I feel compelled to write reviews on restaurants, but having been a handful of times now to Sassafras, I felt it was finally time. This has been my favorite go-to restaurant for the last 3 years. Chef John and crew have taken low-country, southern classics and elevated them with fresh and unique ingredients that I never would have thought to pair with the originals. Chicken and dumplings, so pillowy and savory that I teared up the first time I tried them, thinking of the same dish my mom and grandma whipped up at home growing up. Succulent fried chicken sandwiches slathered with pimento cheese and chow chow. Every fresh fish special has been the best l've ever had until their next special comes around; the cobia, swordfish, and yellowtail snapper with their respective pairings have all been masterfully made. Sassafras is what my heart longs for when it's been a while since l've visited the real south; it's unlike any other restaurant in South Florida and offers a beautiful atmosphere along with some of the tastiest food I've had. Looking above the open kitchen, you'll see mason jars full of ingredients used in the dishes they make, all made in-house. The decor is tasteful and cozy, while still paying homage to the coastal area around Sassatras. This is the spot I take visiting family to for a nice dinner downtown, where we can all share the small plates and enjoy each other's company. This is where I go with my boyfriend for date nights, birthdays, and other celebrations. This is where I unwind after a stressful work week with my girls for brunch. Sassafras nails everything! want in a dining experience, and I'm so glad they're here!

My party dined in on lobster night (a 2-4-1 special during their slowest month - Sept) and the food was beyond exceptional! Our lobsters were fresh and steamed to perfection. The sides were also delicious. We tried the Brussels sprouts, macaroni and cheese, corn, potatoes, and cheddar bay biscuits. I also had a delicious mocktail called Autumn Sunset. We dined outside and our server Nikita C was friendly, efficient, and professional. The 2-4-1 lobster dinner is an amazing deal and I hope they continue to offer it. The atmosphere was relaxing and romantic. I highly recommend sitting outside on the sidewalk if the weather is nice!
Parking: Parking meters on the street for a 2 hour max, or park in one of the many nearby parking decks.
