I tried Ya Mas for the first time this weekend. My friend was in town from NYC for her 30th birthday and we were excited to check it out. Overall we had a terrible experience and I’m not one to leave a bad review but I wish we had been warned before hand. The five of us arrived for our reservation Saturday at 7:15 and the restaurant was only about half full which was ideal for us. We were seated immediately and the server took our drink order promptly which was great, but that’s where the positive experience ended. We waited ab 15 min for our drinks and when they were finally delivered I was informed that they didn’t have an ingredient for my drink. Not a big deal, I just ordered my usual, a martini. In the meantime the 3dip appetizer we ordered came out with just two pieces of bread for our table of five.. not a big deal, we ordered more bread which came out a bit later burnt, but still we insisted things were fine. When I finally got my drink it was not good at all, which is what my friends said about their drinks as well. And usually a bad drink isn’t a big deal, but when you pay $18 for a drink I feel like it should at least be okay. Then a single entree was delivered to the table which we thought meant the rest weren’t far behind. Nope. It took another 15-20 min for the rest of the food to come out. Anywho, when the food finally did come out two orders were incorrect and two of the chicken kabob dishes had raw chicken in them. When we finally got to tell our server what was going on she told the manager who came by and offered to get us something else. Needless to say, we were pretty over the experience at that point and just wanted to get out of there. They ended up taking one of the raw chicken kabob dishes off and sending out a birthday dessert which was nice, but overall we didn’t want anything for free, we just wanted a special birthday dinner for our friend. Hopefully it was just an off night or something, but I wont chance it by going back.
