After I stepped away from alcohol and the chaos that comes with it, I searched for a space where I could feel present. I was not looking to escape. I was looking to connect. I found that connection in a small Winter Springs lounge, Lei Kava, where smiling, knowledgeable servers pour glasses of kava, kombucha, and mitragyna speciosa tea, known as kratom, surrounded by people who are wide awake in every sense of the word.

Lei Kava is not just a business. This is a sanctuary. It is where students take a breath between exams, where programmers dive into creative flow, where modern philosophers and artists share ideas, where teachers grade papers, and where cinematographers sketch out visions. The environment fosters conversation, clarity, and creativity. It is a place where people think clearly, speak freely, and build meaningful relationships without the toxicity of alcohol. It is even kid friendly before 10pm, making it a welcoming space for families who embrace wellness together.

There is something remarkably human about this place. Lei Kava is inclusive by nature and grounded in respect. No shouting. No regrets the next morning. No harm done to the body or spirit. The health benefits are real. There is no downward spiral, only a lifting up.

Despite all this, outdated policies and corporate greed still threaten its future. Just as the medical value of cannabis was ignored for years, mitragyna speciosa is now facing the same smear tactics. Powerful lobbyists funded by the alcohol industry push misinformation to protect their profits. Politicians allow themselves to be influenced, knowing full well that this plant is helping people choose a healthier path.

The Mayo Clinic calls kratom unsafe and ineffective, yet their funding sources include pharmaceuticals, insurance companies, and luxury brands. These are all industries threatened by natural alternatives like kratom. Of course they promote a negative narrative. Millions have found relief using kratom responsibly, especially those managing pain, opioid withdrawal, and alcohol addiction. This plant has been safely used in Southeast Asia for centuries. Dismissing it ignores both history and lived experience in favor of protecting profit.

Our generation sees through this. We are not going to stand by and allow the same mistakes to repeat. We choose wellness. We choose community. We imagine a future that moves beyond dependence on addictive legal substances, a future rooted in wellness and conscious choice.

This journey has also brought me something deeply personal. Inside one of these lounges, I met the woman I love. What started as a simple conversation became something lasting. We connected in a space that encourages honesty and presence. That environment gave us the room to really see each other, to share ideas, and to grow something meaningful. Lei Kava is now the place we return to, where we enjoy each other’s company, find calm in the moment, and continue growing together in a space that feels like home.

Lei Kava is not just a place. It represents a movement. For me, it is healing. It is purpose. It is love made real. If you see me there with my partner and her beautiful silver lab, stop by and share a moment. Together, we are creating something better, rooted in presence, built on connection, and alive with intention.

I am on the search for the best of the best. So I like the concept of build your own with the syrups. It’s a bit overwhelming to think of making your own flavor for a new comer to the kava/Kratom wave. Enjoyed the crowd interaction. My favorite is for sure the prices and the option of the take home!!! So definitely earned my returned business!

First time here and had a great time. The guy behind the bar with long hair was very nice and attentive. The atmosphere is great and everyone is very chill. Cool place to just hang out with friends and try Kava. Will definitely be coming back. 100% recommended.

Lei Kava has amazing drinks and flavored shots that are all brewed in-house. I have been here a couple of times and have always felt welcomed and a part of the community. This place is filled with good vibes, and if you are in the area, you must try the butterscotch shots or the blueberry cheesecake kava shots.

Lei kava is my favorite kava bar! I’ve been to a wide variety of different kava spots but lei always provides the perfect atmosphere with the greatest service and the selection of drinks and mixes are endless! Sofia and Ryan are excellent tea tenders and they always make sure everyone is taken care of and feeling good! Sofia always makes sure me and my friends have a full stomach and have been drinking plenty of water to ensure the best outcome and results while enjoying our kava and kratom! If you haven’t gotten the chance to stop in I highly recommend it! The white rabbits and slushes are to die for!

I had a really bad experience at Lei Kava, and I feel compelled to share it. My boyfriend ordered a drink, and the bartender, Sofia, didn’t mention that it could make him dizzy. Unfortunately, he ended up feeling extremely unwell and was throwing up for 30 minutes straight.

It's crucial for bartenders to inform guests about potential effects, especially when it comes to kratom. We were really disappointed with the lack of communication and care. This could have been avoided if they had just given us a heads-up. I won’t be coming back, and I hope they take this feedback seriously for the sake of other customers.

I recently tried Lei Kava and was really let down. Not only did the drink have an unpleasant taste, but it also made me feel dizzy shortly after I finished it. I’ve had kava before and expected a calming experience, but this was the opposite.

To top it off, I found the price to be way too high for such a disappointing drink. I won’t be returning anytime soon. Save your money and look for a better option!

I recently tried Lei Kava and was really looking forward to it, but I have to say, I was quite disappointed. The drink just didn't live up to the hype—there was an odd taste that I couldn't quite place, and it felt more like a chore to finish than an enjoyable experience.

To make matters worse, I found it to be overpriced for what it was. I expected something special given the cost, but it definitely didn't deliver. Overall, I wouldn't recommend Lei Kava; there are much better options out there for a refreshing drink. Save your money!

Great place, great vibe, great product. House teas are enjoyable and made to order (flavor add-ins) . This is the place to meet new friends and choose your family if you're far away from home, chosen family is always the best family. My chosen family in this place are :: Danielle, Gabe, Kristi, and Ryan. They all greet you with a bright smile and warm embrace (if you're a hugger, and we are) . Life is a little easier when you have friends who listen and understand and when you know those people are in your corner!

Someone put a bad review for this bar and said "as a customer I see how they treat employees" which is funny to me because this person is dating a former kavatender. Said Kava tender has gotten complaints from a lot of people about attitude and the way they treated customers. I understand defending your partner, but spewing lies and showing "disgruntled ex employee energy" is not it when everyone knows this person was the reason for their own demise.

My good friend Gabe is half owner of this joint with fantastic service and perfect atmosphere. Stop in and say hello! He is the grumpy old guy, but he grows on you like the mole on Cindy Crawfords face. Lol. Start by saying hi to the other owner, Danielle (love her!), and then work your courage up to Gabe. Lol!
