Awesome food, best biscuits and gravy around!! Good generous size portions not like some other restaurants with real tiny eggs. Sweet tea was on point! Really nice friendly road side diner! Pretty neat to see all the semis parked there! Nice to be able to sit down and kinda take a step back in time when there were way less mainstream corporate places and more mom and pop know your neighbors type of diners!

Stopped at the Breakfast Barn Country Kitchen after a morning of exploring the Lake Apopka Wilderness Drive. It’s kinda odd the beaten path. Unless you’re in the Apopka/Zellwood area, you’ve probably never had reason to go here and that’s okay. We love these small, local diners that we always manage to stumble across when outing.

Honestly, the food was just kinda okay. I had the Grandpa’s biscuit breakfast in which the sausage gravy was good but a little thin for my liking. The waitress asked how I wanted my scrambled eggs cooked and if I wanted the bacon crisp or regular. I’m not used to getting asked that question but was glad that she asked.

My wife’s was a different story. She ordered the French toast, which was so hard you couldn’t cut it with a knife. It honestly tasted like it had been made with frozen bread that hadn’t thawed completely. Not one to complain, she ate most of it, but when inquiring about the meal, we were told that it’s deep fried. Huh?!? Yes, it’s deep friend, which explains why a hockey puck would have been easier to chew. My wife’s said that it was honestly the worst French toast she’d ever had.
The waitress apologized and said that she’d had several patrons complain about it recently. The best thing I can say is that when it comes to something simple like French toast, don’t try to reinvent the wheel.

Now you’d think that they would have offered to remove the meal from the check, but they did not. The waitress told us that she could not discount the meal, but could give us the coffee and orange juice for free. I thought that to be an odd response as most servers would have had a manager take care of it.

I would not drive out of my way to come here but if you’re in the area, it might be worth giving them a chance. For what it’s worth, don’t get the French toast and hopefully your service is better than ours.

If you’re going to or coming from Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive, this is the place to stop for a bite. The biscuits and gravy are very good, the people who work there are nice, and the prices are right. And it’s ten minutes tops from the Drive’s exit. So go!?

Went for breakfast on Sunday morning and it was already moving, meaning people coming in & out. We entered the place and got greeted right away. Environment was great, low noise level, no weird or any smells, clean tables and floor.
Waiter came right away and took our drinks order, then came back and took our order.
Everything came as ordered, in a timely manner, and great temperature.
I loved the sausage patties, Belgian Waffle, Home made corned beef hash and the attention & kindness from our waiter.
Definitely coming back and with my family.
Thank you Tanya & River,
