Food was very good, serving size was generous. Service was good. Prices were more than I expected, but the portion size helped to offset it.

Worst Mexican food I’ve ever had, hands down. Mole sauce tasted like sweetened peanut butter. On an enchilada? With no other sauce options? No thanks. Meat was questionable and stretched thin by adding a lot of onion. Chips seemed to be from a bag. Salsa was tasteless. Flautas are just rolled soft tacos.

Not sure what this was, but it wasn’t Mexican food. “Shredded” beef was sad wet chunks that was more onions and peppers than beef. Tacos had very roughly chopped lettuce and tomato with exactly 3 pieces of shredded cheese on them. Enchiladas did not have proper sauce. Only offering was “mole” that tasted like melted Reese’s cups. Salsas tasted like uncooked marinara with cilantro added.
On a positive note, the rice has some flavor and the beans did taste like they were made in house, but were very small portions.
But that isn’t enough to save it. Definitely expected a lot more based on their prices.

Ordered the grilled fajitas not a grill mark in sight or taste it looks like stewed meat and it’s SWEET! Who in the world wants sweet fajitas?? Terrible rewarded my taste and dinner for tonight

I never leave reviews anywhere / but I was disappointed with my experience at this restaurant, particularly because it does not follow an authentic style of Mexican cuisine as expected. I ordered a tostada, but it was extremely difficult to eat. The steak was served in long, thick strips that were not suitable for a tostada and should have been chopped instead. This made the dish messy and impractical, taking away from the overall enjoyment.

Additionally, before ordering, I specifically asked the staff if there were any spicy ingredients or spices that would make the meat spicy. I was told no. However, after tasting the food, it quickly became clear that the steak was indeed spicy. Unfortunately, the same issue applied to the chicken as well—it was also spicy. Because of this, I was unable to fully enjoy or finish the dish.

Overall, the lack of accuracy in describing the food, combined with poor preparation choices, resulted in an unsatisfactory dining experience. I would recommend clearer communication about spice levels and more appropriate preparation for dishes like tostadas. Also I asked for additional stuff to be added to the tacos and it was not added- overall I’m extremely disappointed and I never take time to leave a review but I truly didn’t want to cook so I chose this restaurant out of many options and it’s just not what someone wants to experience when hungry and after a long day at work,

We have gone here each of that last couple years while down visiting my parents. Sadly, it's gone down hill. My wife got a chimichanga and I got fajitas. Hers, was burned pretty badly, and mine had very small portions. In addition to small portions there was a 4% Credit Card fee. 3% has become the new norm, and I tend to not mind if it is advertised or mentioned when we go to pay the bill. In this case it was not mentioned and it was barely posted and it was 1% higher than other places. I feel bad for food business's right now with the crazy inflation since covid, but there comes a point where something's got to give. Other Mexican places we go too still manage decent portions. If you're going to get the parents watch the kids and go out on a date night, $45 without drinks should leave you full, not walking away wondering what you can snack on back at home. Sadly we will not be back to Los Chicos.

I ate there twice this week, while visiting friends in the area. I wanted to leave a 5 stars review and the service on Tuesday was great, but on Thursday morning there was a different waitress and she was negative and rude. Customer service is important...

Where do I start? This was my husband, my mother & my first time eating here. Honestly I will say the rating this place has is pretty deceiving.
Firstly, this place needs some updating. I’ve never gone to a place as run down as that one. It is also very small and not many tables.. but local regulars seem to like it? Secondly, the portions for the price was upsetting… I ordered flautas that came with rice & refried beans for about $16 — I got literally just one flauta, barely any lettuce & maybe half a scoop of rice with refried beans that were spread out so thin to “seem” like there was more of it than it actually had. My husbands chimichanga was crispy and over-cooked but he ate it cause he was hungry and doesn’t like to complain. The food was just okay taste-wise.. though I will add that I was left with the impression that the food is not fresh (all of our plates were quite HOT to handle.. and that would not be the case with freshly made food.) Thirdly, I asked for onions with my flautas and was given a hard “no.” lol like not even told why it was a no.. or offered a side or up-charge for them.. I was just told “no” and that it was in the sauce?? I don’t know why? This place is somehow kept open and running by the older local regulars.. cause this was a disappointing experience for us.

Roaches running across floor in dining room. Salads made of aged veggies. Lousy service and nasty food.
Avoid this dump!

I didn't know this place existed until one of our friends told us about it. This is the best kept secret of Zephyrhills! It is so good and so authentic. I forgot to snap a picture because it was so delicious we just dug right in. If you haven't been to Los Chicos yet you are definitely missing out.

I ordered take out and everything I ordered was wrong. I ordered pick 3. I chose 1 chicken enchilada ranchero sauce on the side, sauce was on it. They tried to pass it off until I said I want to see the order before I leave. I don't know what I was thinking, they fixed it with an apology. I also chose a chicken burrito and a soft beef taco, no lettuce or tomato on the taco, on the plate at all. I didn't check the rest of the food before I left assuming, I already caught them trying to pass off my enchilada, the rest will be correct. There was a beef burrito, not chicken, lettuce and tomato on everything. It was torrential down pour when I picked it up, I called them and they, the waitress, started making excuses, the lettuce and tomato was on the side, I said yes, I am allergic, now I can't eat it even if I wanted. Then she said I don't know what to say other than bring it back and we will see if we can fix it. Really? Fix it? What were they going to do? Pick off the lettuce? I asked for a credit for another day, because of the terrible weather and was told no. Now I will NEVER eat there again. I will tell others as well. There is no shortage of Mexican restaurants, in this area. Mistakes happen, bad service should not. 👎🤬

The fajitas are the best. When I want great fajitas its worth the drive from Tampa to eat here. Their fried ice cream is a delicious dessert. Also, one of few restaurants that has a nopales dish. The food here is good, definitely worth the visit if you like Mexican food.
