The Chowder House Restaurant

This is a good place to go to get a variety of food including steaks and seafood. The staff was super nice. At the time we wrnt was no wait. We had salmon, scallops and calamari. Food portions were good. Prices were very reasonable. We both had drinks and they were good as well. This place is located in a strip mall but do not let location steer you away.

I had a steamer sampler and my wife had the broil scallops. Very tasty.

We went to The Chowder House Restaurant for the first time today. The ambiance is very quaint and inviting. Our waitress was very kind and professional. The food is top rate. I recommend this place highly.

Great food!! Best seafood we’ve had in a long time!! Drove from Lakeland to eat dinner there and it didn’t disappoint. Prices great, portions a lot!! Service and staff was excellent!! The food is amazing and the team really tries hard. Sarah was our waitress tonight and she was fun! Definitely recommend even if you have to wait a few minutes. 🎣

The food and service was great. My husband and I had the all you can eat haddock and shrimp. Everything was hot and fresh. I love their cold slaw. Our drink glass was never empty.

Overall, a decent experience at the Chowder House Restaurant! Our waiter, Sarah-Jo, was very pleasant and friendly. However, it seems that they were somewhat understaffed, and she had to run around to serve other customers. This increased wait time, and then when we finally placed our order it took about half-an-hour to be served. Not complaining due to the environment but it's still good to be aware of.

The food served was of great quality, except for the clam chowder. Members of my party got inconsistent results, with one person satisfied and the other allegedly not getting any clams, and was overall dissatisfied. We ended up getting it all replaced with coleslaw instead.

Additionally, be aware of the price you pay on your food. The "19.99" you see on the menu is the price you pay if paying cash, a 3% reduction from 20.61. This means you'll be paying an extra dollar for every $31 spent, before taxes. I wish they were more transparent about this, rather than just putting it in fine print at the bottom of the menu.

Therefore, I recommend this restaurant if you are aware of the potential for inconveniences and lack of transparency.

Vegetarian options: Did not notice any vegetarian options on the menu, but it's possible I missed something.

Dietary restrictions: For the price, you get quite a bit of food, but you should be aware that all food products may contain trace amounts of seafood because of the environment. Ask your waiter if special accommodations can be made.

Kid-friendliness: Food from the kids' section of the menu is available for ages 10 and under.

A few years ago, we walked in, looked at the menu, which was nothing like their online menu and the prices were way higher than on their website. When I messaged them my experience, the manager had the gall to ask me if I believed everything I read online! Mind you, IT WAS THEIR WEBSITE!

Delicious food! Awesome service by Sarah Jo!! Clam chowder was really good. And save room for dessert!
