Found this place watching BBQ Pitmasters. I heard it was less than an hour from my house and I got up in the middle of the show and left. When I got there I was not disappointed.
The best brisket I’ve ever had; in fact all the food is simply amazing. I’ve been back a few times and have never been disappointed.
Pro tip. Be there when they open. They do sell out.
Parking: There’s always a place to squeeze in. Empty church parking lot across the street too.

Visiting from out of town, this was among the best BBQ my husband and I have ever had. Atmosphere is warm and friendly, it felt like we’d been invited to a friend’s house if that friend were a much better pit master than anyone we actually know.
Sauce on the meat was flavorful without being overwhelming, and the textures of the brisket, pulled chicken and ribs were amazing. Ribs had just the right amount of chew on them, in contrast to another place we visiting on the same trip. Don’t expect the same peppery bark on e.g. the brisket you’d get in Texas, but it was incredibly moist and tender with a bit of slow building heat. Pulled chicken was the best I can recall.

Trying to go get barbecue this morning around 1 o’clock already closed no more food. This happens 85% of it needs to start cooking more food supposed to stay open till 4 o’clock and never does always hang the sign out no more food tried to buy 7 pounds of barbecue a few months ago to feed the sheriffs office would not sell it to me

This place is legit. Got the beef plate. The brisket was the most tender I’ve ever had. Good sauce. Definitely will be back.

I drove 1 hour 10 minutes to get there and will be doing it again if The Lord allows. Well worth it. Michael Character is a gifted Pit Master. Pulled pork and ribs were excellent, you have to try the ribs. Sides were great also, I had beans and potato salad. Micheal stopped working to come out to thank me for my order and shook my hand. Guy taking orders, very professional, kind and patient with all the customers. Not a large place but big on flavor and serving their customers. If you enjoy "good bbq" go to Michael Character's BBQ.

Not only is the BBQ some of the best I've ever eaten, but the sides are worth fighting over too. Get the pork plate with coleslaw and potato salad. It comes with a slice of pound cake too. CAN'T BE BEATEN.
On top of that, when we ate there the day of the Dixie Hwy Yard Sale, my wife left her purse. To make a long story short she didn't realize it until several hours later. I raced back to Characters and it was already closed but the staff was still there and had my wife's purse waiting.
I can't say enough good things about the place. Good food from good people.

The best ribs and sides in the south!!! Just my personal opinion and I been around Georgia trying a lot of different BBQ places and this place hit my taste perfectly, I forgot to mention that they chased me out to my car just to let me know the cook “Michael” was putting together this amazing rack of ribs after mentioning they were out at first “lucky me”
