I come from upstate New York and we didn't know from fast food growing up unless you went to the local diner (greasy spoon). I was introduced to Dairy Queen when one opened when I was in my teens. It's menu was limited and featured soft serve ice cream dipped in a chocolate shell covering. Now the menu has been greatly expanded.
