This place is infamous for Indian buffets. They serve buffets during lunch hours. Ordering off the menu is not available during this time.

I would recommend their buffets to everyone, especially first time visitors. This way you get to try a little of everything. They have a vast selection of dishes served on all days. They also have a non alcoholic (cold) beverage available and chai (milk tea) as part of the buffet. They offer paan (beetle leave wrap with a sweet filling) over the weekends. However it’s not part of the buffet and comes at an added cost.

Their service is prompt. Their front desk try their best to keep the rush hours organized. Their floor staff are courteous and friendly. Their kitchen staff do a good job of making sure the buffet is always stocked with food and dishes and silverware clean and available for their guests.

This is not a fancy place. However, the food is great. It’s super reasonably priced. I guarantee your visit will be a positive experience whether you decide to go by yourself or with a few friends/coworkers or a large group. (Please let them know in advance if you are a large group. This will give them a chance to prepare for you, rearrange seating to accommodate your party and serve you better)

Madras Chettinaad in Alpharetta is a fantastic choice for authentic Indian cuisine in the North Atlanta area. The restaurant shines with its bold, flavorful Chettinad-style dishes and an excellent variety of vegetarian options. As vegetarians, we were delighted with the South Indian specialties—dosas, idlis, sambar, and flavorful vegetarian curries were all outstanding.
The lunch buffet is amazing, offering great value and a chance to try many different dishes. The food is consistently delicious, fresh, and full of authentic flavors. The ambiance is comfortable and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed meal with family or friends.
The staff is friendly and helpful, and arriving a bit early ensures a smooth experience. While desserts are simple, the main dishes more than make up for it.
As visitors, we highly recommend trying out this restaurant—it’s a must for anyone craving authentic South Indian and Chettinad vegetarian cuisine. Delicious food, great variety, and excellent value. We can’t wait to return!

Madras Chettinad – Alpharetta (Afternoon Buffet & Dinner till 9 PM)

Madras Chettinad is a welcoming Indian restaurant in Alpharetta that truly shines at lunchtime with its buffet and continues into the evening with an à la carte menu until 9 PM. As vegetarians, we were delighted by how many choices were available alongside the non-vegetarian dishes, so mixed groups can eat happily together. The spread felt like a tour of South India: different types of dosa made just right, flavorful veg rice and pulao, and a comforting curd rice that was spot-on. The rice preparations in particular were excellent—fragrant, well-seasoned, and not oily. For dessert, the Gulab Jamun was soft and satisfying, a sweet finish without being cloying. You can even round off the meal with tasty paan at the counter.

Though it’s operated by a Punjabi owner, the kitchen team serves very authentic South Indian flavors, and the ambience also leans South Indian—simple, warm, and family-friendly. We found the dining area tidy and the washrooms clean and well maintained, which adds a lot to the overall experience. Service was efficient and polite, plates cleared quickly, and items in the buffet were replenished regularly so everything felt fresh.

Location-wise, it’s conveniently placed in Alpharetta and easy to reach; parking and access were straightforward, and it’s simple to spot on a maps app. Pricing felt fair for the variety and quality offered, especially at lunch. Whether you’re in the mood for a relaxed buffet with plenty of choices or a sit-down dinner before 9 PM, Madras Chettinad is a great pick for families, friends, and anyone craving South Indian comfort food. We left satisfied and energized—highly recommended for a wholesome, flavorful meal.

Took my friend here cause she wanted to try South Indian food- I was deceived by the restaurant’s name. Please do not order any South Indian food here, it is not up to the mark at all. North Indian food is okay here.

We ordered tandoori chicken and chicken 65. The chicken 65 meat was smelling stale and tandoori chicken was not properly cooked. This was for dinner time so seems like meat used for buffet and ala carte is different.

I had Madras Chettinaad cater quite few a corporate events, and as always, it was a huge hit! The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, and full of authentic flavor — everyone raved about it! The staff was incredibly accommodating and professional, making the entire process smooth and stress-free. I’ve worked with them multiple times, and they consistently deliver outstanding service and quality. Highly recommend for both dining in and catering!

we order food from here every time we get back home after a vacation. It does not disappoint. We got mini idlies, a few variety of dosas and the papadi chaat. Food was on point, tasty and delivery was seamless with Doordash.

Food was good but service was ok ok, even for table we have to ask to grab empty tables, one person said it reserved and after requesting they said its vacant you can use it even for food refilling we have to ask even for spoons also waited for 7 mins. I would say average experience.

I've been to India 11 times particularly the South 6 months in Tamil Nadu my 1st trip for the anniversary of India's Independence from Britain. Extensively in Kerala, Karnataka & Sri Lanka, many many times. THIS FOOD WAS AUTHENTIC & IT TOOK ME BACK TO INDIA!! Parminder, my greeter, seating host & server, was like all South Indians very personable and helpful. I've eaten here before on the weekends, but I will definitely come back next time, anytime I'm in the area!

Decor/lighting needs update! Went with my wife for Buffett lunch around 1:30pm. The food bar was already low on appetizer, few nan quarters sitting there for quite sometime, no salad etc. etc. Three were 25-30 guests in the dining hall and more coming. When we were leaving around 2:15 , they look like were replenished 5-10 minutes ago. While leaving I complained to young man at counter. His answer was typical ‘you should told me and we could have taken care of’. Well where we were near the Buffett table it is a long walk to look for him. Only people making round faithfully were ladies picking up dirty dishes.
