Ruth's Chris Steak House

My family and I usually have dinner at Ruth’s Chris on Christmas night. Started about 15 years ago in Florida. Went to the Alpharetta location tonight, December 25th with a party of 13. Reservation for 7pm. Seating was cramped. They were out of the lettuce wedge salad, Abita beer, cremini mushrooms, the apple tart, and ice cubes for our cocktails. Two of the filets were ordered medium well. They were medium rare. The garlic mashed potatoes were ice cold and so thick the fork stood up in them. My daughter ordered lobster and it came out ice cold. Ordered 4 bread puddings. One was extremely dry and two others had little “char” on them. Service was the worst we’ve ever had. I have to ask and wait for iced tea 3 times. Waitress never cleared the dirty plates off the table except for salad plates. Food was brought out in waves and kept being handed to the wrong person. Then, they would only split the bill into two checks. So two parties had to pay for the other people in our party. The women’s restroom had 3 stalls. The handicapped was locked and was apparently not working. One stall worked. The third had some malfunction with the auto flush and sprayed water all over the seat when it flushed. Imagine going to Ruth’s Chris for Christmas dinner and havIng to get tons of paper towels to wipe a toilet seat. I’ve been in better restrooms at a gas station. Nobody there cares and it’s really sad because we’ve always loved the food and service at Ruth’s Chris. The icing on the cake is we were charged 20% gratuity for the worst service. Will never go back to Alpharetta and will probably never go back to Ruth’s Chris. Seems like it’s fading and being staffed by people who do not know what they’re doing. Nearly $1000 for dinner of mediocre food and horrible, horrible service. You can tell they don’t care.

Wow, this has really gone downhill. Dirty dishes on the table the entire meal. Stingy with the alcohol. Half filled martini glass. Fillet was tough. Potatoes were dry. What the heck happened??? Ruth Chris was a legend. Not anymore.

The food & atmosphere was great...however our server Deborah was overwhelmed so therefore we didn't get the superior customer service we are used too. However I understand because she had several tables...

Although it was Hannah’s first night as a new server, she did a fantastic job. Her personality and attitude alone will taker her far in this industry.

I really enjoyed the food for the most part but was surprised when charged 6 dollars per water bottle placed on the table and was not notified that I would even be charged to begin with. Other than that our server was great.

Our first visit and celebrating our 38th wedding anniversary. The manger and staff were amazing and made this special dinner a memorable occasion. The atmosphere was lovely and the food was fantastic. Thank You!!

We celebrated my parents' 48th anniversary here 11/25. Not only was the amazing food, but the service was even better! Robert went over and beyond and made our a visit memorable! The restaurant is decorated beautifully so you definitely can get some great photos. I recommend the T-bone, calamari, heck the onion rings!!! Everything we had was excellent. I will definitely return to this location.

We came to this Ruth's Chris location for Thanksgiving and we decided to have the Thanksgiving Dinner. From the start, we were greeted by our server, Pete. Pete is such a welcoming character, he was so friendly and made sure that we never had to ask for anything...the service that he provided to us was top-notch! On to the meal...the turkey I'm sure was the most moist and tender turkey we've ever had, the gravy took a backseat to no gravy, ever. The stuffing was fantastic and and the cranberry relish was to die for. The green bean casserole...excellent. The sweet potato casserole is just sinful... We thank all of the employees who made this such a wonderful visit, but mostly Pete since he was the face of it all...

Parking: It's just a normal parking lot similar to most restaurants, but no valet parking at this location.

Elegant Restaurant! family Friendly , My Birthday Weekend

I had the opportunity to take the family out for a nice Thanksgiving dinner, and I wish I had picked a different place.

On the positives, the food itself, the steaks and most of the sides were nice. Apart from a few orders that did not arrive, what did show was not bad. Onto the negatives, it started the moment we arrived.

Understand that everyone was nice, right up to the point that they knew what had happened. And I fully understand it was a holiday evening and I expected a delay or two, not a big deal. But this was a fiasco.

They go to seat us and take us to a table, then realized it was not ready. After an odd pause they take us back to the waiting area. Never seen this before, being seated then unseated, but we tried to take it well and waited a bit. Reservation was at 8pm, this was no more than 20 minutes into the evening there. About 15-20 minutes more goes by after being unseated I go ask for an estimate, they come back to tell us another table is now ready right after I asked. Great.

So we are taken to table #2, but... turns out that table was for someone else too. Some conflict between those working the front and I presume a manager or someone running that area of the restaurant. Some other family was brought in, and yet again after another awkward pause as we stood there, we were asked to go back to the waiting area.

Back to back seated then unseated, I am not kidding.

While I was trying to call around for anywhere else were we may be able to eat that late on Thanksgiving night, someone approached and asked us what we would like from the bar "complementary." Whatever was ordered did arrive, after we were finally seated for the 3rd time that night.

But, on the bright side they did not unseat us a 3rd time, we got to stay, we considered it a win.

Again the food was fine, there were "complementary" appetizers brought, but I realized later I may have paid for it all anyway. A few other drinks we had ordered once we were seated the 3rd time, including things like coke and sweet tea but also one or two things from the bar took, a half hour to come back. At that point the place was not that busy but "the bar was backed up," I guess the families they did seat... once... were still getting their orders taken care of.

At the end of the meal I just wanted out, I tipped well knowing full well the server was not at fault. Very lovely as was the hosts at the front, good people trying while working a holiday, just a bit of a mess especially the epically poor management that evening.

I assumed we were a reasonably nice, well dressed, happy to be together family at a nicer place, but Ruth Chris apparently did not want us there.

And, I have no plans to go back.

This is my fifth Thanksgiving dinner at Ruth Chris but the first time at this location and tonight was not up to standard at all. I understand it is a busy night so having to wait 25 minutes past my reservation wasn’t a big deal but almost all my food coming out room temperature (only exception was the sweet potatoes), being handed another tables check with their card, and not getting bread when every other table was were not understandable.

When I did let my waiter know the main course was cold she apologized and brought out replacements quickly but it was half the portion we originally received with no explanation.

No apology or visit from management for food not being correct which is out of character for Ruth Chris

Long story short, wasn’t able to use a gift card via their website or over the phone To place an order. Utterly ridiculous what we had to go through to use it! I needed the order placed for a quick pick up, and they refused! Word of advise is do not buy any gift cards from Ruth’s Chris! McDonald’s serves people better than this! Our order is another story. The smallest and most ridiculously measured portions I have ever witnessed. $63.00 for their Prix Fixe, which would normally seem like a good deal. 6 ounce steak and shrimp with a salad and desert. We ended up with a chicken nugget size piece of steak ( maybe 3 ounce) and 3 small shrimp. I had to make my husband additional shrimp for his dinner. Salad was decent, but they left out desert. Our side of cream spinach was also a joke! Mind you this was a take out order since we couldn’t use our card for online or over the phone. We had to drive down In person and wait for the order which we had no time for really. Honestly, Mckendrick’s in Atlanta, or maybe even Good ol’ Longhorns makes this restaurant look like a complete joke! I’m never going back!
