The restaurant was recommended to us. We are on vacation in Atlanta area and took their advice. Was delicious! Service was great. Wonderful meal.

Average at best. Service was not great. Never got biscuits or cornbread until the end of dinner. I wouldn't be in a hurry to go back.

Very nice experience. Great waiter with a fun personality. The chicken livers and the trout dishes were delicious, the cornbread and biscuits served were wonderful!

From the minute we arrived at Hotel Avalon, we were greeted with the most friendly staff, from the valet, the hostess, and especially our server, Victoria Storey. Victoria was very attentive, had great recommendations, and made sure we were taken care of throughout our meal. We love dining at South City Kitchen mainly for the exciting atmosphere you get while there, and the unique dishes of elevated, delightful cuisine you can't find anywhere else. I highly recommend— make sure to ask for Victoria — the hostess with the mostest!

First time at SC in Avalon- ambiance was great with the singing group they had. Food was great but service was a bit slow and not as anticipatory. We did constantly need items from the server like straws, water refills, new forks and parking to be validated. Overall good experience will sit on patio next time

The food was great. Everyone at the table enjoyed the food and drinks. The vibrations in the the restaurant was high! We ate well and we had a great dinner.

I have eaten the pan fried chicken livers for many years and always loved them. My advice:
Never change what works- I purchased a to go order and they prepared all components of the dish separately which defeats the purpose of what makes the dish so good.. You lose the essence when you make changes and down the line you will lose stars and eventually customers.

We came here for Christmas dinner and while the food was good, the service was quite possibly the worst service I’ve ever received. The bill totaled over $500 (it was $85 per person for the Christmas dinner) and paying that price we expected atleast basic needs to be met. The server was not apologetic at all for the bad service, and was quite rude. I feel bad my family came in town and I recommend this place. We won’t ever be back.

Was told this spot is good but honestly this was sooo mediocre and not worth the money. They only do chicken and waffles on weekends and the menu felt somewhat limited. The bread they use is bread you get at Walmart. Restaurants in hotels should have higher standards for ingredients and use artisan breads. Overall just disappointed and will not return.

Came here for brunch with several colleagues. It’s a beautiful restaurant with spacious tables and an upscale but inviting atmosphere. The staff was very professional, and the service was immaculate. Unfortunately, the only mediocre part was perhaps the most important: the food. I’ve tried their chicken & waffles, and I wasn’t impressed. The dish was just ok–the chicken wasn’t juicy or crispy enough, and the waffles were fine. We also shared fried green tomatoes, which were also fine. I can’t really recommend this place unless you prioritize the atmosphere/service over the food.

Had breakfast here twice while staying at the hotel. One time at the restaurant and the other was room service. Both meals were great. The menu is very meat forward but I was able to get a breakfast biscuit sandwich without ham and sausage gravy (still charged the same price). It was really good but also very heavy. The grits were really good. The service at the restaurant was oddly slow which was strange since it was a weekday morning and pretty empty - only 3 tables had patrons.

The room service order was good - just had scrambled eggs and a side of grits.

Excellent!!! The food and service are top notch. The Caesar Salad was so good. Delicious dressing, but those crispy okra were a yummy surprise. The Fried Chicken and the Scallops were fantastic. I rarely write reviews, but when I'm impressed, I say so.
