Whoever handles reservations is the absolute worst!! I've been trying to reach them since last week. I called 10 times and they never answered once. I left 2 voicemails and requested a call back each time- they never called me back. I received a text message from another number about my inquiry. I asked for additional information and they never answered. They clearly don't care about customers and I'm happy to take my business elsewhere.

Called to inquire about reservation on April 18th and whoever answered the phone was beyond rude. I asked about reservations the following day and before I could finish she said we are fully booked, I inquired about next availability she said “sometime” next week and hung up. Don’t bother with this place. They are under the impression their “tea room” is Michelin starred. I have been before and it’s only the location that makes it fun, the place itself is mediocre at best. Not worth it.

The Ginger Room is everything you could imagine and MORE. From the dainty teacups to the gorgeous chandeliers, I had such a wonderful time. The servers were attentive, the restrooms are top notch standard of clean. This is a historic house, and they have transformed it to its beautiful luster art and historic charm. I will absolutely be back for more!

Wonderful place to get a taste of British high tea! The hospitality was unparalleled, and they were so kind to arrange a table and seat us despite it being a busy time and us not having a reservation. The food quality was wonderful, the clotted cream and scones were a favorite as well as the Turkey and Gouda croissant. Will definitely be back soon.

Been trying to make a reservation for over a month.. Tried email, text and on their website plus several phone calls. No one has responded. I never have tried so hard to give an entity my business with so much effort. Very disappointing. I guess I 'll never know since on their site they welcome walk ins but prefer a reservation. How does one succeed at that when they are not being responsive at all.

Honestly, just not worth it. I came with a few friends to celebrate a birthday, and we were seated in the main area (we didn't reserve a room), which was quite small, so we all felt quite cramped. The teas were ok, but we were never offered cream or sugar, and the staff only came around once to refill waters and such. As for the actual food, the other photo reviews are fairly representative. The owner came out and explained everything to us, and it all tasted as it should, although he told us the scones were fresh and piping hot, but upon eating, weren't even remotely warm. They were truly kind, however, about offering cake and a small celebration for the birthday, but aside from that, it really just wasn't worth it for the price. We went for the vibes, but the ambience wasn't exceptional due to how small it was, and the food wasn't top-notch either. Just felt so overpriced for a mid/low-tier high tea experience. In terms of celebration, you're probably a lot better off going to a nice steakhouse instead.

Booked this for some friends and I to have a nice afternoon together. It was an okay experience but the real issue I had with them was the payment and their lack of communication. I had to book this over a month in advance- and give a deposit for keep that spot. No big. The website states this clearly. Then day of, when I go to pay, they give me a check with my total and haven't deducted my deposit. I ask the server about this and she seems utterly confused as to what I'm talking about. This is frustrating and awkward but it's high tea in a small venue so I don't want to make a scene. I also assume I've gotten something wrong about payment so I just pay up.I get home and check the website and yes-the deposit should have been removed from the total. I send them a message via their -contact us- link on their website explaining what happened and didn't hear back. Followed up again and still crickets so they've essentially stolen $74 from me.The experience itself was okay. I've had high tea in England several times and this is close to the real deal, but my server didn't know what clotted cream was when we asked for more. Not unusual for an everyday American but if you're working in a place serving high tea, you should know what that is. I also found it all to be a bit over-priced, but understand that it's more of a novelty/unique experience in the US so people are willing to pay more.Just know that if you have any issues- which is more likely when there's untrained staff- you can't rely on this establishment to make it right for you. I would understand if this was a smaller mistake, but times are hard and $74 isn't an inconsequential sum of money.

The place is cute, but the food is lacking. I brought my mother and daughter here for tea, and it was a disappointment. They had called me about a week before to confirm the reservation. At that time, I was asked if I wanted afternoon tea or high tea. I specifically stated high tea. Yet when we arrived, they had no idea we wanted high tea. They did accommodate us, but it started off the experience in a less than ideal way. The quiche that was part of the high tea was absolutely abysmal - a cheap, store-bought version. I expected it to be made in-house. The sandwiches and all other treats were also low-budget, store bought items. Very disappointing. Service was also spotty. I will not go back.

What a delightful, and memorable experience! My wife and I had High Tea with Dr. Karl (the Chef) and his amazing wife at 4:15- the final seating of the day, a week before Valentine's Day...if you have never experienced authentic English High Tea (which is more like a lite supper with tea), you absolutely need to treat yourself and your dearest friend. I and my wife have been to Great Britain, and experienced authentic English offerings, and we were not disappointed here at the Ginger room- we were... Absolutely. Delighted. (It's disappointing to see in a review below an overly emboldened "keyboard all-things British critic" refer to Dr. Karl's hard work and attention to detail as "dog biscuits" when they wouldn't dare say that in-person- simply because it is flatly untrue (look at the other reviews?)- Unfortunately having a keyboard now gives license to stupidity and juvenile bravado.)We started out with amazing service and generous pots of authentic English teas served in the style of High and "Low" tea in GB. Both of our servers were warm, friendly, and very accommodating. Next, Dr. Karl's wife brought the traditional "low" or Afternoon Tea Tiered Tray with finger sandwiches and more...they were all excellent, well-crafted and with care, and delightful to the palate. My wife really loved the salmon and dill, and I loved the Coronation Chicken- a hint of curry, and just wonderful! The pimento cheese was outstanding as well. The scones were authentic, as was the clotted cream- creamy, nutty and rich. Dr. Karl took the time to explain each sandwich, scone, home-made sweet, and the added High Tea savory in-detail to my wife and I, and even gave a secret or 2 away on his outstanding Shepard's Pie (one of many savory dishes that can be served with High Tea at the Ginger House). The salad was lite and refreshing; outstanding flavor- plating and presentation during the whole experience was exceptional, with careful attention to detail- from the individually different tea cups on various tables, to just the right dusting of powdered sugar on the the mini ginger beignets (donuts). The chocolate delicately dipped macaroon: fresh, and decadent. The quiet ambience and small, quaint tables- absolutely cozy, warm and private. Very Romantic. (This is exactly why Nationally televised shows choose the Ginger Room for romantic dates for their viewers- see the acclaimed series "Love on the Spectrum" ). The warm and caring attention given by both owners, and their devoted staff to make our day special...will never forget it. They actually celebrated a nearby table's birthday, by making the Birthday Queen with a beautiful Tiara. We will recommend this romantic, sweet and upscale getaway experience to every couple we meet! We will soon be bringing my adult children and their partners here as well, as well as my Mother and Father. You'll never forget this experience. (My wife and I are watching with eyes peeled for Dr. Karl's upcoming and to-be-announced 007-themed black-tie night, complete with on-site Aston Martin! We will be there! (BTW, the Ginger Room is so true to English form, British car maker Aston-Martin itself will be holding their yearly party there- of course!)
