Had a great meal. Started with the Cajun soup which was delicious. Then the trout and grits. Had never had trout before and it was good too. Leeann was our waitress and did a fabulous job on waiting on 12 people and serving us well. Our first visit and will come back

We ate there tonight for the first time. The food was really good and our server, Lilly, was the best. She was helpful when I told her I am gluten free, she suggested the trout dish. I will 100% suggest it too. If you're in Bainbridge and want some amazing food, you got to try it!

Disappointing ownership and decisions from a small business wouldn’t recommend

Made reservations for Friday @6pm, were seated promptly. Drink order was placed, ordered a bottle of wine which they didn't have so made a second choice. The waitress was not trained on how to serve wine. Our orders were placed and the Waite was long, food arrived and was not hot pork chop was tough and chicken cordon blue was tasteless. Very disappointing and definitely not worth the money. The bill for the four was 181.00

Won't be back for a while. We had to flag down waitress for drink refills, plate for tomato pie, etc. Tomato pie was great as usual, except was a lot smaller portion for same price. Wedge salad was half size. Keep shrinking the portion sizes and your customer base will shrink too.

I went to a fantastic place, and let me tell you, the steak was absolutely phenomenal 🥩! The appetizers were also on point, making it hard to pick a favorite dish. Honestly, I don't think you could order anything that wouldn't be good; everything was just so delightful. The service was also top-notch, adding to the overall wonderful experience. If you're looking for a delicious meal, this is the place to be!

Food was great! Different kind of menu. It was refreshing to see different meals than the run of the meal restaurants.

It wasn't until after my visit that a friend shared that the owners of The American quietly sold the restaurant. Unfortunately, it shows.
The social media has gone downhill quality, as has the food. The cornbread chicken was dry and overcooked, the mac and cheese was the not the normal blue fontina mac and cheese and instead of the collard greens it came with canned green beans.
My family had the heirloom tomato pie, which has always been a favorite and the cornbread. Both were lacking in flavor but felt very greasy.
I hope new ownership works to restore the legacy this place once held, because right now, I do not think they have the experience or skill to create their dishes.
