My husband and I were invited to dinner by my best friend and her husband to celebrate the completion of my book, and it was such a special evening. This was my second time dining here, and I can confidently say the food has been consistently outstanding.
I ordered the filet mignon cooked medium rare, and it was absolutely perfect — tender, flavorful, and cooked exactly the way I like it. We also shared the fried mushrooms and cauliflower, along with the crab cakes, and everything was delicious. The wine selection was fantastic and paired beautifully with our meal.
What truly made the night exceptional, though, was our server. Unfortunately, we can’t remember his name — it started with an “F” and I believe ended with an “D” — but he was incredible. Maybe Farbod. Attentive without being intrusive, warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind. He elevated the entire experience.
We are so grateful for such a wonderful evening and hope this review finds its way to him so he knows how much we appreciated his service. We will absolutely be back!

We recently gave Bare Bones Steakhouse in Buford another try after some time away, hoping things had improved. Unfortunately, the experience was very similar to what we’ve encountered in the past.
I ordered the prime bone-in New York strip, and for a cut that should be the star of the table, it was underwhelming. The steak lacked flavor and didn’t reflect the quality you’d expect from a “prime” offering at a steakhouse that positions itself as upscale.
The mushroom appetizer was also disappointing. It was overcooked, and several pieces were mostly fried dough with little to no mushroom inside. That’s not what you want to see from a starter that should set the tone for the meal.
On a positive note, the onion rings were fantastic — crispy, well-seasoned, and easily one of the best items we had. The kale Caesar salad was also very good and well balanced.
The Old Fashioneds still need work. This has been mentioned before, and unfortunately it doesn’t seem like much attention has been given to improving them. For a steakhouse, classic cocktails matter.
Service was okay. Our server was friendly and did her best, but she had several other tables including a large party, which clearly stretched her thin and took away from her ability to provide more attentive service.
It’s disappointing because Buford could really support a standout steakhouse. We came back hoping for a different experience, but it doesn’t feel like much has changed. There’s potential here, but until the consistency and execution improve, especially on the steak itself, it’s hard to justify returning.

When I came to this restaurant for the first time, I didn‘t expect the steak to be unexpectedly delicious. It was a good experience. The service staff was also very enthusiastic. I didn’t ignore every guest because the business was too good. It‘s great. I will come again next time.

We always had a good meal here and enjoyed their steaks. We had a group of 8 everyone ordered steaks. They were tough. I didn’t eat mine. We don’t like to complain but will not be back for steaks. The best thing about dinner were the french fries. The server was good but way understaffed!

Upselling children especially when they’re clearly teens, crosses a line. Kids don’t know the pricing games, and it put us in the uncomfortable position of having to intervene. Charging $10 butter and add‑ons like “blackened spices” or fresh veggie upgrades sounds like the kind of nickel‑and‑diming that feels predatory. On a holiday like Valentine’s Day, we were trying to create a memory, not navigate a sales pitch. It’s not just the money — it’s the feeling that your grandkids were being taken advantage of. Some restaurants train their staff to upsell aggressively, and while that might be fine for adults, it’s absolutely not appropriate for teens who are just trying to order a meal. The food was good, but the upselling to my teenage grandchildren felt inappropriate and made the experience uncomfortable. Please train staff not to push expensive add‑ons to minors. Restaurants often don’t realize how their policies land until someone tells them. We were trying to treat our 6 grandkids to something special, and instead, we had to watch them being taken advantage of. That’s frustrating and disappointing.

One of the best steaks I've ever had (Prime rib eye). Husband had the Prime NY strip and also said, one of the best. Excellent service from Blake. Nice atmosphere but the booth seating does not match the prices but that's a small nitpick. Great cocktails, especially the Corpse Reviver. The chocolate ganache cake was out of this world delicious. Overall, we will visit again when we feel like splurging (dinner for two with cocktails and one dessert was $300 after tip).

Had dinner here this week to celebrate my 82nd birthday with my wife. First visit after living in the area for over 20 years. Thoroughly impressed with both our food and the atmosphere of this establishment. Both the martini I had to start and the Rose wine ordered but my wife were excellent and a good start to our meal. We tried the onion rings as an app and they were both plentiful and tasty and took some home as well. My Porterhouse was outstanding and my wife really enjoyed her Prime Rib, (served on Tuesday and Sunday). Our sides included their wedge salad and a shared sweet potato souffle. Both also excellent! Last, ore server Blake was a real gem and allowed us to dine at a slow and relaxing pace and never felt rushed. He is also real wine expert and knows his stuff. Such a great meal and great server in Blake. Will def return!
Bare Bones knows how to provide a great meal! I’ve not had a bad meal, and everything has always been delicious! We frequent BB, and we try to recommend it to everyone we talk to. Always order the prime steak, no matter what slice you like. The onion rings, fried pickles, and BB shrimp are amazing apps. And even the fried mushrooms and cauliflower app is delicious, and I’m not even a cauliflower fan! The baked potatoes, grits, green beans, creamed corn, sweet potato soufflé, and fried okra are some of our favorite sides; although, all the sides are great. I always order the salmon, and it’s delicious. And others we know have gotten the chicken and the pork chops, and they are great. And then the desserts…oh my word!! We’ve had almost all of them, and we’ve had friends who have tasted the ones we haven’t, and all are incredible! We especially love the blackberry cobbler, served in its own little crock with homemade ice cream. They have 3 homemade ice creams to choose from, and the brown sugar ice cream on that cobble is to die for!! Even if you’re a little distance from Buford, it’s worth the trip! Make yourself some reservations; so, you don’t have to be sad to walk away on the busy nights. Go! Make yourself plans and reservations now! You’ll thank me later!
Another fantastic dinner at Bare Bones!
We were thrilled to get the experience of eating in the Vault this trip. A must for a special occasion! The history of the restaurant always adds to the experience and is worth noting.
We got several appetizers for our group. You absolutely have to get the onion rings. They are life changing and unlike any onion rings I've ever seen! I am not an onion ring person but love these! Pair them with side kale caesar salad for a match made in heaven.
The steaks were cooked perfectly and the shareable sides make it easy to pick up a few and share easily for groups or just two. I highly recommend the green beans and mashed potatoes. Please make sure to try the homemade steak sauce. I know its taboo to put steak sauce on an amazing steak, but I assure you this sauce is worth rule breaking. It's made in house and delicious.
We were too stuffed to even broach dessert, but I encourage you to try the hazelnut cream puff or bananas foster. I have tried both on previous dinners and can vouch for them.
The service was incredible as always. Michael and Lauren did an amazing job this visit getting all of our needs met and suggesting fantastic menu items.
If you can spare the time to do a pre or post dinner drink on the roof, I would do so.
I hope you enjoy your dinner as much as we did.

If you have not yet visited Bare Bones, you MUST make plans to do so. The service is excellent, and the food is delicious! My co-workers have been raving about the steaks and onion rings, and they are absolutely correct!
