Our go to is the red curry and drunken noodles which are both delicious. Tonight we tried the sushi for the first time and it was so good as well.

Well the food wasn’t bad but I’m disappointed because there must be new management and it was a whole new menu when we walked in. I order chicken eggrolls & shrimp pad Thai. I will say the pad Thai is a little too sweet and my noodles were a bit tad hard. Other wise it was good. I also felt like it was too dark in the restaurant. I think you guys should change the name since there’s no more Lao food.

[EDIT: I lowered my review from 3 stars to 2 stars, because it's kind of awful to be riding on reviews from a different restaurant.]

So, this place is no longer Sally's. I went in there after hearing about it for a long time, only to be given menus for Akami Sushi. I now understand after reading the reviews that it's under new management.

I got Japanese food, specifically the Spicy Samurai Bowl. It was really, really good. But it really threw me off going inside and seeing all kinds of Japanese-inspired decor with occasional mentions of Sally's on the wall. They also gave us canned Thai tea that I can buy at Nam Dae Mun or H-Mart for cheaper, which was disappointing.

The menu still has standard Thai entrees, but nothing Lao. And I'd be inclined to doubt that the Thai food is as good as it used to be.

Disappointed that I missed out on the real Sally's, but it was a genuinely good Japanese meal.

I was not really impressed. They were out of the Japanese curry dish I wanted on an empty Friday night, so I got the red chicken curry. The chicken tasted gummy and raw, and the green beans were canned. The curry itself looked like slightly curdled milk in oil. The flavor is pretty good and the presentation is good, but I didn’t leave feeling happy. The service was very good though!

Edit: They're under new ownership now and changed the name and menu, but are still using the original listing on Maps. The quality has taken a dive too. I can't stand when places try to keep the old, positive reviews for their net new restaurant, so I'm updating my review.

Pour one out for Sally's, because that place was a gem and will be sorely missed.

Original review (5/5): This is one of my favorite Thai/Lao restaurants. I've had most of the menu at this point and everything is good, but my two favorite dishes are the Khao Soi and Khao-Poon Chicken. The Basil Fried Rice with Chicken is also a winner. I'm glad we have a place like this in the area. Hopefully it sticks around for a long time.

Since they don't like to answer the phone for the order in I've tried their online service and quite frankly it sucks. So the last five times I intended to order there I ended up ordering elsewhere. They should invest a little more into their pick-up/delivery system. For example, tonight I will drive 2x miles for Lee Golden Budda in Buford. 4Elephants Flowery Branch. They both always pick up the phone!

Best Thai/lao food in the area. Better than what I’ve had in Atlanta.

I can't believe I almost forgot to share one of my new favorite go-to spots! ? If you're ever in Buford (off exit 8 on 985), you have to check out SALLY'S KITCHEN THAI AND LAO. My cousin @joe_hall01 was raving about this place not long after they opened, and after my first visit, I totally get why! ?

Every dish I've tried here has been nothing short of amazing. Their BEEF PHO, PAD SEE EW, DRUNKEN NOODLES, FRIED RICE, SPRING ROLLS, EGG ROLLS, MEATBALLS, CURRY... the list goes on and on. ?

Now, the pictures might not do the food justice because the dining area has that cozy, dim lighting, and I don’t always carry the gear I should for the perfect shot. ? But trust me, the food speaks for itself!

The service is super polite, and the prices? Most dishes are around $13-$15. My favorite Pad See Ew plate is just $13—thirteen!! And no worries about parking; there’s a whole strip of stores and restaurants. ?

I don’t often repeat places because there’s just so much out there to try, but when I need a guaranteed good meal after a tough day or week, Sally's is where I'm heading. ?

I highly recommend you give them a try and let me know what you think!

Edit: Their pork belly isn't often on their specials but when available you should check them out if you're a fan of pork belly! Perfectly fried and they go well with the sticky rice

The food isn’t always consistent (dried chicken pieces today) but when it’s good, it’s pretty good. Just an fyi, unless I missed a sign businesses usually have about this, they don’t disclose that they’ll be tacking on a small unknown amount (a dollar or so?) if you use your credit card– they seem to quickly manually input the amount into the credit card machine before handing the machine to you at the time it asks if you want to tip. And they will stare directly at you as you’re pressing the buttons. I knew this because I was quickly corrected for pressing the wrong button when adding the tip. I’m all for tipping (always 20% unless it was an awful experience) and more when it’s deserved, sometimes even for takeout if they’re friendly… but not while feeling pressured to do so by someone who just handed me the food. If the food was consistent, it’d be worth it. However, that’s not the case and I won’t be going back.
