“Second Chance Given, Same Result: A Leadership Failure at Waffle House”
This is my second complaint regarding poor customer service at a Waffle House in my area.
The first incident occurred on January 18, 2024 at 9:30 AM at Store #2357. After that experience, I stated I would never return to Waffle House.
After a little over a year, I decided to give Waffle House another chance—this time at a different location, because it has always been one of my favorite breakfast spots.
On February 7, 2026, I entered Waffle House #2284, located at 6025 Watson Blvd, Byron, GA 31008, at 7:33 AM. I sat immediately at the high-top next to the checkout register.
An employee, Laneisha (salesperson), was assisting another customer at the register, and asked me whether I was dining in or taking out. I replied, “Eating in.” I waited for her to finish with that customer.
While I was waiting, another gentleman came in and sat one seat away from me. Laneisha appeared to know him personally, as they began chatting. Once she finished with the previous customer, she looked past me and asked the gentleman what he wanted to drink. He replied, “Coffee.”
At that point, I was shocked. He was served coffee while I continued to sit there without acknowledgment.
By 7:40 AM, I was prepared to walk out—just as I did during my last experience at another Waffle House. The gentleman paid for his coffee and tipped, while I still had not been served.
Wanting to handle the situation professionally, at 7:42 AM I asked another employee if a manager or supervisor was available. She brought over Amber, the Unit Manager.
Amber asked how she could help. I told her I wanted her to take my order due to the poor customer service I had just experienced and explained the situation in detail. She apologized and took my order.
Two additional employees later asked about the issue, and I explained it again. I told them I would not return to this location either because this is not just an employee issue—it is a leadership issue. To their credit, they apologized sincerely and asked me to give them another chance. Because of their persistence, I agreed.
After finishing my meal, I asked Amber for my ticket and inquired about a military discount, as I am a retired service member. Amber told me, “It’s on the house.” I stated that I preferred to pay. She declined again and covered the meal.
I thanked her, but I also made it clear that situations like this reflect on leadership, not just front-line employees.
I also informed her that I am an Air Force instructor in the area and that Customer Service Skills is one of the courses I teach. I asked for her name, the employee’s name, the store number, and the name of the person over the store (Cedric).
I am bringing this to your attention in hopes that retraining—especially at the leadership level—can be conducted. Employees will only perform to the standard that leadership allows.
I am requesting a response to this complaint.

I stopped by Waffle House in Byron recently and got exactly the kind of meal I was after: simple, comforting, and reliable. Walking in felt like entering a classic diner — booths and counter seating, bright lighting, the smell of coffee and eggs filling the air. It’s the kind of place where you don’t need to dress up or plan ahead — you just show up.

I went for a waffle with eggs and hashbrowns. The waffle came out warm and buttery; the eggs were cooked just how I asked, and the hashbrowns were nicely crisped. Portion size was right — enough to leave me full without feeling stuffed. It felt honest and uncomplicated, the kind of breakfast-dinner combo that hits when you just want something familiar and satisfying.

The staff were friendly and efficient. Coffee got topped up without me asking twice, and service had a relaxed but smooth rhythm. Whether you’re dining alone or with friends, Waffle House makes it easy to just sit back and enjoy.

Overall: Waffle House (Byron) is a dependable spot — no pretension, no fuss. If you’re looking for a quick, affordable, familiar meal — breakfast-style or otherwise — it’s a safe bet. I’d happily return the next time I’m hungry and want a good, straightforward diner meal.

Our waitress was friendly and attentive and the food was on point as always. My boyfriend loves the pork chops here and my favorite is the chicken melt has brown bowl (scattered well and add some over medium eggs, yummmm). Always hits the spot 😋

If this da first one in Byron in front od Publix off Watson..I told the girl I wanted my eggs in da blender to b mixed well tht da only way I eat them she didn't do it thts wht i like im paying why not get it da way I want it ???n there attitude sucks not all but 2 of them was terrible

I understand it’s been a while since my visit to Waffle House in Byron, but the customer service I received from Thomas resonated with me so much that it truly drove me to write this review even now.

Thomas went above and beyond to make my experience memorable. He was attentive, friendly, and professional, ensuring that every part of my visit was smooth and enjoyable. His warmth and attention to detail turned a simple meal into one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve ever had.

Even though some time has passed, Thomas’s exceptional service left a lasting impression, and I will absolutely be returning because of it.

I placed an online order and when I got there it was so quiet I’m not use to that ! It was the lovely waitress and amazing cook ! I did put an online order so my country gravy was forgotten but when I placed an online request for help the manager (Cedric) reached out to me fast and helped me with a refund . Will be back !
