Okay we went there today to try them out the sandwiches look very good and big but when you bid into it all you tasted with sauerkraut and my sandwich I got a Reuben I've never had Rubens with that much sauerkraut on there before and the price that we paid for two sandwiches two little bags of chips and two glasses of iced tea cost us 30 some dollars he figured if you split that two ways that's $15 and change a person if you don't believe me about the sandwiches go there and order a Reuben take the top part of the sandwich off and look at the meat it looks like it's processed meat so don't take my word for it go order you a Reuben there if you like Rubens and if you've had Ruben before you know what they supposed to look like and taste like tell me what you think go try them out they're very high and expensive please comment if you ever go there and what you think of the sandwiches very expensive to me I won't be back

I work in Calhoun at least once a week and when I go out for lunch, this is one of my favorite spots. I love their black bean burger. It’s huge and hearty and just the right amount of spice. Yesterday I had it on whole wheat and the sandwich came out so big I had to cut it in half just to pick it up. One of my coworkers had it on a deli roll and it was huge as well. I simply order it without cheese and they always put some really fresh lettuce and tomato on there. I’ve considered ordering it on a salad and may try that next time. But I would probably bring my own dressing.

Walked in and asked where to order. Told to see the hostess. I was eating alone and she stuck me in a corner both pointing to the wall. First, table was stuck to my chest and I'm not a big guy. Second, how can I get the waitresses attention if I need something. So I slid over to the booth next to me with room and visibility. The hostess tells me I can't sit there and escorts me to a small table. I like the comfort of the booth. I asked what was wrong with the booth. She replied it was a 4 topper and I'm by myself. I look around at 2/3rds of the empty tables and said it's that a problem. She just stared at me like I was out of line. So I left. They should learn how to treat customers. Maybe that's why the tables were empty. It was noon after all.

Live in Carrollton but stay in Calhoun every Wednesday and always eat lunch here. The best sandwich i have ever had hands down. The different breads to choose from and the fresh meats make all the difference.

This place is always busy with local folks. This is a real guide on where the best food is. Great homemade soups, salads, and sandwiches. I like the salad trio with a selection of 3 salads

Oh, Christian and Jake’s Bistro, you have long been my lunchtime sanctuary. My husband and I have been loyal devotees, singing praises of your sandwiches far and wide, especially that Reuben, which, let’s be honest, is a rare gem to find done well. But lately…well, let’s just say something is off.

My husband and I ordered our beloved Reubens (corned beef for him, turkey for me), but what we got was a huge letdown. First, the meat portion? Skimpy. The centerpiece of a Reuben should be the glorious stack of protein, but instead, it was like the meat was playing hide-and-seek under a mountain of sauerkraut. And boy, did that kraut take over. It was like the sandwich was hosting a sauerkraut festival, with the corned beef and turkey showing up as mere guests.

Oh, and the bread. I mean, I expect a little grease with my grilled bread—it’s part of the charm, right? But this bread was so greasy it could’ve slipped right out of my hands and into a NASCAR pit crew lineup.

At almost $40 for two sandwiches, you’d expect more than a sauerkraut tower with some oily bread slabs. Where was the balance? The Russian dressing barely made an appearance, and what little there was couldn’t save the day.

Now, to be fair, this place has been one of our absolute favorites for years. So, I’m hoping these last two visits were just flukes and not a sign of things going downhill. Maybe a new cook? An off day? Whatever it is, I sincerely hope they get back on track soon. Because if this keeps up, I might have to break up Christian and Jake's and find a new sandwich maker soulmate.

Here’s hoping Christian and Jake’s gets back to being the sandwich legends I know they can be. Otherwise, I’m not forking over $40 for what feels like a greasy kraut-bomb.
