My wife and I grew up in California, we know good mexican food. El J has been our go-to place for good, real mexican food for nearly 8 years.
Last night was a real disappointment....the food was BLAND. All if it. The flavors we have counted on just weren't there. Even the salsa tasted like it was watered down. We learned that there might be a new guy running the kitchen....if this is the case, you need to send him back to New Jersey, or wherever he came from....

Excellent food, excellent service, excellent salsa!! Food was prepared and brought hot to the table and was delicious. The wait staff took good care of us. We will be back again when we come back to town.

This is a really good little place it's quiet and nice when it's hot outside. I had the lunch number one which is a chili poblano with a taco beans and guacamole salad. I found it delicious and fulfilling. The people are also really nice. I was there for lunch but I'm sure those drinks would be really nice too.
