Love their hibachi choices. We do take out from there quite often. They do not skimp on the portions.
Don't get me wrong they have great sushi. But my last few visits have not been so great. The time before this I repeated my order of a fried Philadelphia roll 3x and the owner even repeated it back. I get there she charges my card then gives me the wrong roll. She tried to argue with me but finally took it back and prepared the correct one. But I ended up waiting over 20 minutes .After her mistake I would have thought she would just take what she already charged but oh no she couldn't loss that less than 2.00 . This time I called at 6:45 ordered 2 fried Philadelphia rolls and was quoted 20 minutes. Since the past 2 times she has made me wait way past what she quoted I gave her an extra 10 minutes. Then had to pull up and wait anyway my wait ended up being over 45 minutes. I even left over a 20% tip which I would not have done if I knew my order was going to take so long. The service is getting worse and worse. I may not go back after this. I wanted to support my local sushi place but not if this is what keeps happening with no apology. Gas is to expensive to have to wait 45 minutes for an order that is suppose to be ready in 20. I will gladly drive to Helen and get better more welcoming service.
I travel from Helen, Ga to get takeout! Really good and worth the drive! Have their number on speed dial and their menu on refrigerator!
Great express hibachi place! Food was really good with a generous portion size. Service was friendly and helpful. I'll gladly return when I'm in the area again.
I've eaten here many times over the past six years and thought the place was a little odd but overall fantastic as the food had typically been exceptionally great and most of the service was quite polite. But the oddly high employee turnover and eccentric visits to my table from a lady chef, possibly the owner, whenever I brought guests to dine with me suddenly all make sense. At eleven this morning, I called to place an order for my family and quietly tolerated several minutes of chastising and criticism from the woman who answered the phone. She spoke with condescension about how poorly worded my order was, never once apologizing, asking for clarification, asking how I wanted the item prepared, nor showing any professional courtesy. Just, "Look at the menu."I know from experience it is stressful to work in food service, and it must be especially so during the pandemic, so I'm willing to be patient with people; we need that from one another. This wasn't enough for her. She repeatedly interrupted me as I tried to reword my order the way she wanted. I gave her eight seconds of silence at the end of one of her criticisms to allow her the chance to gather herself. I hoped she might calm down, use that time to gain clarity and reevaluate how she wanted to proceed, but she was only interested in asserting her dominance and telling me again to look at the menu.Assuming this was the same lady chef that eccentrically visited the table with corrections and lessons and the demeanor of a strict matron, this desiree for dominance may be what motivated such acts. A desire to understand what people want and need would serve a restaurant far better. And that springs from having a healthy and genuine interest in people. Without that we drive people away, seeming to be sullen and irredeemably boorish.I am just assuming based on my own experience in restaurants and my observations while dining at Yakimono that servers frequently left due to mistreatment rather than low pay, which is quite often the way it plays out in America. No one is really here or there for money, but to seek happiness. The money is merely an essential means to that end and so many others. Mine was found at another restaurant nearby. Good luck finding yours.
Do yourself a favor and go to Mishima in Cornelia- trust me the quality of service is worth the extra 8-9 minute drive. As someone who recently moved to Clarkesville, I have yet to eat here and after a 10 hours, one meal work day and an hour drive to get home I was starving and decided that I would give them a try because I’m way too tired to cook. I pulled up at 8 pm and when someone came to the window, the clock had just rolled over to 8:01. The lady informed me that they close at 8 and they stop taking orders at 7:55.... I manage a retail store and there’s no way that I would allow my employees to quit assisting our customers at 5 minutes until close. I guess the one good thing that came out of this experience is that they didn’t get a dime of my money tonight and they made sure that they wouldn’t get a dime of it in the future! Like I said, go to Mishima in Cornelia- I’ve literally called them AFTER close and they still answered and graciously took my order all with a smile on their face! Hopefully the owners of this establishment will see this and will coach their employees on why good customer relationships are important and how it can positively or negatively impact a business.
This is the response that I’m assuming the owner responded with to a negative review that I left on Google. I’m honestly not surprised at all at it after looking through the responses to other negative reviews. There’s no accountability, just hostility to those who dare to say anything negative. I’m not sure HOW this “restaurant” is even still in business. If you want to see my full review go Google them. Like I said in my review, do yourself a favor and take the time to go to Mishima 10 minutes away in Cornelia.
The reason for the One Star ⭐ is the last couple of times we've been the food has not been good. So I decided to give Yakimono another try this evening.I get home with our food and you couldn't eat it... It was ssssooooo salty. Wow I just hope no one with any type of elevated blood pressure stops there tonight. Stay away from there at least for tonight.
Great food. Sushi is surprisingly good considering it's northeast Georgia. It does take them some time to get food ready so make sure you order at least 30 minutes ahead. Dining room isn't open yet, but they're doing carryout via their drive-thru.
I love the food BUT they need some serious management. I called 35 minutes prior to arriving and placed my order for pickup. Waited 20 minutes in line to get to the window, then once I paid I was told “only 10 more minutes please pull up” there were already 2 other cars pulled up in front of me.. I waited another 20 minutes or more before I even received my food. Not a good experience at all especially when you have 2 fussy babies in your car because they’re tired of waiting. THEN on top of that they gave me the wrong food and I am having to wait another 30 plus minutes! No apologizes from them

Very 1st visit and I will not come back. Was told to be there at 425 PM. We arrived and had to wait till 455pm before we got our order. Then when we asked for a refund from owner since we had to wait so long and the girl in drive thru rang up wrong order. The owner then said we owed 5.34 more. I said no I want a refund. The owner I'm thinking then got mad a threw our food around. The food was not appetizing at all. Fried rice lol more like white rice with a few carrots. Under seasoned meat. Not worth the $40 we spent. So very disappointed.*Update to respond to owners comment*Funny how you didn't address the owners behavior towards a wronged customer, but instead tried to say I didn't know what sushi is supposed to taste like, I have eaten in some of the best sushi restaurants in Georgia and this was the most unpalatable and non Edible sushi I have ever tried to eat, my "California roll" was spicy which I have never heard of a regular California containing spicy sauce, my daughters steak was over cooked and tasteless as was her rice and vegetable which was ONLY carrots she received no other vegetable, and the spring rolls we soggy because my food sat for 30 minutes even though I was their at the time I was told to arrive*
FIRST AND WORST experience I have ever had at a restaurant .I was told my order would be ready at 4:25, I arrived at 4:30 to only be told my order wasnt ready after paying and waiting almost 40 minutes for my food, I find out the cashier rang me up for the incorrect food because the owner put Joy on my order instead of the name she was told, cashier should have verified I was paying for the right order but the owner should have verified she had the correct name before hanging
I would give this place a zero star if I could. Do not go here. All I ordered was a noddle with shrimp and chicken and she charged me $22.08! For one meal.On top of that, when I opened it after going home, it was barely any noddle on my plate! Just a bunch of vegetables, some watery sauce, and 4 shrimps! All for $22.08 like what? This is crazy. I’m very disappointed
The experience here is essentially hibachi and sushi. The sushi is great. Habachi reminds me of mall Asian food. But its a good price for what you get. Employees I spoke to were professional and got me taken care of.
Yakimono is my regular stop for sushi, definitely the best sushi in Habersham and it’s very reasonably priced, especially for the large portion you get. Also, I’ve always had positive experiences with the employees. Great lunch and dinner option for a good price :)
