As a 79 year old fruit cake lover I have been wanting to try the Claxton Fruit Cake companies fruit cake for several years. I bought one finally on Saturday and went home with high expectations. The cake tasted like there was a lot of raw flour in the taste and texture. It was so bad I threw the whole fruit cake out.

This is THE best fruitcake in the universe! I drove down TO Claxton for business one day and Claxton Bakery was right next to the county courthouse. I bought the Clax Snax regular 20 pack and loved them. I ordered another 20 pack for the holidays. One day I'll try the dark, but that may be a little too rich for my tastes. And buy just a regular fruitcake, not the Snax, but the Snax are great because you can portion your fruitcake consumption wisely throughout the week. Claxton is the Fruitcake Capital of the World for a reason!

I've always loved Claxton fruit cakes and buy them at Krogers. But the last 2 years I've been blessed by a special friend, that has ordered them from the Claxton bakery and shipped them to my house for Christmas. What a wonderful gift!

I stop in to buy a couple of fresh cakes every time I pass through Claxton. I've been doing this since the 90s and only miss out when I travel on the weekends when the storefront is closed. I hear people say Claxton fruitcake isn't the same as they remember but I disagree. What's different is their tastebuds which change as they age. I love pecans in my cakes. If you believe Claxton cakes were made without them I'd like to know when because the delicious pecans keep me coming back! I wasn't fond of the rum soaked version so I can't say I miss it.

I love Fruitcake and have been purchasing Claxton Bakery Fruitcake for years at our local Military Commissary's during the Holiday's, This year though will be the last time I purchase Claxton Fruitcake because of all the Garbage Low Quality Candy Fruit they are now putting in it, one of the Dark Cakes I purchased that I tried to eat actually had some type of Wood Twig in it, which after Spitting it out and examining the half chewed FC, it appeared to be a Stem from a Raisin (Grape Vine), plus most of the Candied Fruit is so tough you can't even chew it, Never Again.

We made the trip to Claxton, GA yesterday to visit the world famous fruitcake factory. While fruitcake gets a bad rap, this fruitcake is really good!
