Stopped for lunch. Food was not very good, they were very kind and refunded us. The breakfast looked good and we probably should've ordered that. Chicken and dumplings was more like a chicken stew with no dumplings, just veggies and chicken. If that's the way it normally is maybe consider calling it something else. No flavor to the lima beans and the casserole of the day was not good. However, the fried green tomatoes were very good, I would get those again. ...
We visit friends in Franklin NC every year and took a trip down to Clayton as we were visiting waterfalls. The Clayton Cafe is a great place to stop in for a quick bite. All of our food was amazing but I was blown away by the fried chicken sandwich. Hot, crispy, juicy, tender, well seasoned, and LARGE! Definitely one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had.
