We saw the restaurant’s sign as we were driving through Clayton. We ordered a hamburger and fries, chicken quesadilla, and the mahi dinner special. Our meals were delicious. The food was fresh and beautifully plated. The restaurant was clean and the staff was kind. My family and I enjoyed a peaceful meal and would eat here again.
We didn't start out there, but dinner at Ishy's Grill last night was so delicious!
We went down the mountain to try the new Asian restaurant, Hokkie. Apparently, so did the rest of Rabun County: The line there went around the lobby and out the door. And this is still the soft opening! (Sign says they're still ramping up staff and service is slow.)
So we stood in the parking lot, looked around, and decided on Ishy's Grill.
They're without their beer and wine license at the moment. But the food and friendly servers more than made up for that.
I had the ribeye and fried okra, and the tomato basil soup. Hubby chose salad and the pork chop and fried okra. I admit, his was tastier than mine! I have never tasted a better bone-in pork chop. Never.
The presentation was beautiful. The menu's diverse options cater to every picky family member: seafood, pasta, salads, and a good selection of dessert options.
We look forward to visiting again, when they have their license. Just one street off 441 in downtown Clayton.
Came in on a Saturday night at 8:20 and was turned away even though they close at 9pm. Put that you close at 8:30 if you aren’t actually open until 9.
Fresh, Home cooked Spanish American food
The atmosphere is quiet and quaint nothing fancy, but you will leave wowed by the taste of the food! You can actually have a conversation while enjoying a great meal without the noise of loud music. You will have to have patience’s with the serving staff or the lack of but the food is worth it. You can’t have everything!
We always get good food when we go here. Sometimes the wait for food is a little long on busy days, but definitely worth it.
Maps suggested Ishy's when we discovered our favorite Mexican restaurant was closed. It was after 1PM, lunch rush was over. Parking was somewhat difficult to find, we thought that might be a good indicator.
Seating was fast, space was large and very comfortable. Service was excellent, attentive and friendly.
Meals (chicken burrito and dinner salad) arrived in a reasonable time and had excellent presentation. Meals actually included more sides than noted on the menu. All signs pointed to a very pleasant meal ahead.
Both meals were totally bland and tasteless. I cannot remember ever having a burrito that tasted like cardboard. It was a total letdown. And to top it off, the burrito was room temp. I cannot remember being so disappointed. Maybe their grill items are better. Maybe it was the wrong time of the day. But we will not be going back there for Mexican food.

Unfortunately we were disappointed. We were excited after looking online, but it fell extra short of great. The fries were terrible, very oily. We did tell our server, however there were excuses made for the oily fries instead of offering anything for the issue. That was very disappointing and I wouldn't be giving a negative review had they offered more than an excuse for it. We won't be back. Oh and my husband said his grouper sandwich was "ok" he couldn't really taste the grouper.

We had a fantastic experience. We were driving from Atlanta to the Smoky Mountains and googled for something on the way. It’s a very cozy, clean and welcoming dine in restaurant. Everything was great from the service to the food. We had the fish tacos and the shrimp Alfredo pasta. And had Chocolate brownie a d flan for desserts. Everything was delicious.

Would’ve been very nice if you had updated your hours for the holidays instead of waiting till your customers drove there to find out you were closed. Happy fourth!
Amazingly good food and good value.

We ate there with a group of friends recently and had eaten there once a number of years back. The service was good - no complaints there. Everything else - the food, atmosphere, location - was just "OK"... It's not anything really bad, but not really anything that stands out to draw me back in on a regular basis. However, other people we know swear by it - so - go check it out and make your own decision.

I don't go to this restaurant often, in fact I was actually having to the Sunday Diner next door for their Friday seafood night but didn't realize they stopped it at 7:00 p.m. LOL. Not wanting to get back in the rain, I decided to sit down and look at the menu in order the very simple meal of fish and chips. They're not joking when they say that they serve their meals with a little bit of flair. The food was appealing, their notion of a side salad was a very generous portion (although I wish cheese was one of the ingredients). Both the fish strips and the fries were cooked perfectly and the 1399 price was incredibly reasonable in this day and age.I definitely plan to return more often. Just like the Sunday Diner which is in the same out of the way shopping strip, this is off the main drag behind United Community Bank so a lot of the tourists tend to miss it but the locals sure do know about it and anyone looking for great food, great service, and fair prices ought to use the GPS on their phone it made their way to Ishy's Grill.
Wheelchair accessibility: I certainly can speak to this as I am in a power chair. There is a handicap parking space directly in front of the restaurant and there's no curb and plenty of parking. I was able to drive my wheelchair into the restaurant with no bumps or tight squeezes and they have multiple tables that can accommodate wheelchairs and power chairs.
