There are not enough words to express my distaste for the food, the service and the atmosphere. But let's begin this is not a self serve buffet the staff who were very friendly prepares your food from the bar in to go plates, which was my first red flag. Secondly the fried chicken taste as if it was fried in fish grease, the stuffing was wet, mushy and taste like stove top, the mac and cheese was dry and cheese-less with the taste and texture of krafts, the collards were cut to thick and barely done... just everything down to the chocolate cake was old and dried out it was horrible. And last but not least the atmosphere was terrible although it was Thanksgiving and they'd probably been busy all day it looked as if no one took the extra step to walk around and inspect what was going on I had enough food on the floor under my table to feed two families. They were so short staffed until it was shameful. So needless to say I would not recommend this place until they get it together but if you wanna spend 27 bucks for a bad experience like I did... have at it

My mother and I just purchased Thanksgiving plates from Ed's, 4 plates, 3 pecan pie slices. Absolutely WONDERFUL meal, so tender and juicy, great flavor. Only wish the green beans with the little potatoes had been a veggie option.

Ed's food looks presentable, but it didn't have any flavor. For Soul Food, you would expect flavor. Maybe since i'm from NYC that i'm expecting to much from Ed's, because there are a few Soul Food resturants in NYC that Ed's just can't matchup too, it didn't have any flavor. I feel people go here because Soul Food resturants are slim to none in the area. You could eat the food if you need something to eat, it would satisfy your hunger, but it wouldn't satisfy your taste buds. You will not lick your fingers after this meal.

The food is spot-on delicious. It had been a long while since I had an Ed's plate and they did not disappoint. I walked out with 4 dinner plates to feed my family, and the plates were not a dibble and dabble little food for a big price Just know that when you go to Ed's for a meal, you are sure to get full.

Food should be only served to Diabetics cause it has no seasoning at all it looked bland but against my better judgment I tried it anyways and it was not appetizing will not be going back and spent over $30 for 2 plates so not worth it loves.

I tasted Ed's Southern cooking today and I have to say the food is so delicious especially the fried chicken and macaroni and cheese! It was such an exciting experience

Very pleasant staff! The food is always wonderful, and the serving sizes generous with multiple veggie and meat choices each day. Will definitely return again and again!

ALWAYS the best food! since he now has the one restaurant its a pretty far drive but i still try and get by occasionally. it would be nice to have another location in or around phenix city if you ask me
