I had an extremely upsetting experience at this Starbucks (Cumming, GA) location that left me feeling disrespected and deeply disheartened. I typically enjoy my visits to Starbucks, but what happened during this interaction was unacceptable.
Rude & Unprofessional Behavior: When I greeted the barista politely with a “hello” and “thank you,” she didn’t respond with the same courtesy. Instead, she was dismissive and cold.
Unsanitary Practices: While preparing my Venti Chai Tea Latte, the barista began cleaning the machine area with spray cleaner right next to the cup she was using for my drink. This felt careless and unhygienic.
Eye Roll & Aggressive Gesture: When I asked for a stopper, she rolled her eyes and shoved it into my hand. Despite this, I still said thank you.
Curt & Dismissive Response: I inquired about the pup cup and was told, “give me a second” with clear irritation. I remained patient and thanked her again.
Thrown Utensil: After she gave me the pup cup, I politely asked for a spoon. She said they only had forks, which was fine—but then threw the fork across the counter toward me.
I was with my toddler daughter during this entire interaction and didn’t want to cause a scene. However, I couldn’t help but notice how pleasant and kind this same barista was to the white customers after me, while I, a Black woman, was treated with hostility and disrespect.
To add insult to injury, my drink was terrible, you could taste the oat milk, but not the chai & it was cold. It was a complete waste of my money and time.
This experience left me feeling humiliated and emotionally exhausted. I will never return to this Starbucks location again, and I sincerely hope Starbucks takes steps to address this kind of behavior.

They mark up their drink prices above any other Starbucks (per an employee when I questioned my drink price being $2 more than a regular Starbucks). They don’t know how to make the drinks even if they have the recipe card right in front of them. Have given them a couple chances while shopping and every experience has been garbage. The people are kind, I just will never order from here again.

There were two people at the register talking about something, and none of them acknowledged me to take my order. After 10 min standing there, another employee was walking by and I asked her if she could take my order, she rolled her eyes at me. Awful service and my drink wasn’t even that good.

Hid in the back after I made my presence clear. Never acknowledge reward program deals. Oven was down still down weeks later. Tables were dirty. Didn't put my top on securely so my drink spilled everywhere in my first attempt to drink and wouldn't remediate because at this point (8pm EST) they were now closed.....

The service was uniquely fantastic. Two young ladies (Josie and ?) and Zach went to the extreme in finding what I wanted to purchase, two reusable Starbucks cups for hot beverages. And of course they made them to the quality Starbucks standard. I was disappointed that they didn’t accept gratuity here. Perhaps because they are located inside a Target? Nice staff. And we’re happy with the cups.
