Wow, I can’t get enough of this place, the gyros the exquisite food, I just… wow! No words! But, I do have to say the service from this one waiter Jackson I believe was his name, was excellent. From the moment I stepped into My Big Fat Greek Taverna, we were greeted not just with the warmth of the Mediterranean—but with something even more memorable: Jackson. If this restaurant were a symphony of flavors, Jackson would be its charismatic conductor, guiding every note with grace, precision, and unmatched flair.
Let me be clear: Jackson is not just a waiter—he’s an experience.
From the jump, Jackson had the perfect balance of professionalism and personality. He welcomed us with a smile that felt like a sunbeam straight from Santorini and made us feel like we weren’t just customers—we were guests in his own home. His knowledge of the menu was encyclopedic. Not only could he list every dish and ingredient, but he painted them. The way he described the pita bread,… I almost cried. His recommendations weren’t cookie-cutter—he listened to what we liked and tailored the experience like a seasoned sommelier of Greek cuisine. All I can say is Efharisto!!
A Truly Unforgettable Dining Experience — Thanks to Jackson!
My visit to My Big Fat Greek Taverna was nothing short of exceptional, and that is entirely because of one person: Jackson, our server.
From the moment I walked in, Jackson brought an energy that completely elevated the experience. He greeted me with a warm smile, an easy confidence, and a genuine excitement that immediately set the tone for the evening. It felt like I wasn’t just dining at a restaurant—I was being welcomed into someone’s home. He had what I would call the true Greek spirit—philoxenia, or the love of strangers. And Jackson embodied that beautifully.
I ordered a gyro, and it was absolutely fantastic. The meat was tender and flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and wrapped in warm, soft pita bread with fresh vegetables and creamy tzatziki. It was one of the best gyros I’ve had in years. But honestly, it tasted even better because of the way Jackson introduced it. He didn’t just take my order—he guided me through the menu with passion and insight, pointing out house specialties and sharing personal favorites. He spoke with the kind of enthusiasm that makes you trust the recommendation immediately.
Throughout the meal, Jackson’s attention to detail was flawless. He checked in at just the right times, refilled drinks without being asked, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. He even threw in a few Greek phrases like “Kali orexi!” (Bon appétit!) and “Efharisto!” (Thank you), which made the experience feel even more authentic and special.
The most incredible part? Jackson made it feel like Greece had been brought straight to Dacula, Georgia. From his knowledge of the culture, to the way he described the dishes, to his lively spirit and warm hospitality—it felt like a little slice of the Mediterranean right here at home. For a moment, I forgot I was just a few minutes from my house. I might as well have been sitting at a seaside taverna in Santorini.
What stood out the most was that Jackson didn’t treat this like “just another table.” You could tell he genuinely cared that we had a great time. He brought energy, hospitality, humor, and professionalism—all while staying calm, collected, and personable. You really don’t get that kind of service every day.
To the management: Jackson is a huge asset to your team. He brings something rare to the table—literally and figuratively. I’ll absolutely be coming back, and I’ll be asking for Jackson by name.
If you’re reading this and considering where to eat—go here. And if Jackson is working, you’re in for a truly memorable night.
OPA! And thank you, Jackson!
Definitely the best Mediterranean food around. It is clear that the owners read the reviews and make improvements accordingly. Picked up a Greek salad to go and the vegetables looked fresh straight from the garden and not one piece of wilted lettuce. Also, they have the best Mousaka I've ever had.
It was mid-week lunch time and we were looking for something off the beaten path and not ordinary fare and this did not disappoint. We were there around 1:00 🕐 and it was relatively empty but it filled in somewhat within the hour… you order at the counter and then sit down… the atmosphere was authentically Greek, the decor was cute cute… Our counter host was gracious and hospitable and engaging… It was easy to find vegan fare and the food was yummy. We had the Falafel gyro 🥙 and the lunch special of Spanikopita 🥧 with Tzatziki sauce and a side of rice … 🍚 everything was delicious. Although we thought we were eating a lite lunch 🥗 we were stuffed. The pricing on the lunch special was well worth it… the overall pricing is average but affordable. If you go during a high traffic time period it will be difficult to merge into traffic. Overall all we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Gyros are super delicious! We will definitely dine again.
As usual, deliciousness and family like atmosphere.
What a great place for a nice lunch. Both the inside and outside are beautifully decorated and the customer service was fantastic. The food was so delicious and so fresh, we raved about it the entire time. The lemon chicken soup was divine and my chicken shish kabob was flavorful, filling and tender. Everything was incredible and we are very excited to come back!!
We came here twice for lunch and both times were enjoyable. The food tastes so yummy!!!
If you haven't tried this place you are missing out! The chicken was so tender, homemade maranade, and got the char grill taste along with the salad and the taziki sauce, with pita bread so spot on and herbaceous. Friendly server and owner 😘✌️ We will be coming back for more
Talking about dessert! Omg... So good better than Fogo De Chao
We have tried many Mediterranean restaurants and hands down this has been FAR the best that we have been to! Whoever is cooking on the kitchen knows definitely how to use the flames on the grill for the chicken. Just the right touch of flame with phenomenal seasoning and you have a recipe to keep me a customer for life! You won't regret this place! Also the desert is to die for!
Food wad delicious and service was great.
