NO STARS! El Timon you used to be our favorite Mexican Restaurant - used to be. Last couple of times there we were disappointed but today so terribly disappointed that we got up and left. Chips were good but salsa was water. We asked for another bowl and the waitress looks at us like we have 3 heads. She couldn’t understand or speak English. She brought another bowl just like the first one. A different waitress came back with drinks and we were ready to order but she walks away. We wait on her for about 5 more minutes and leave. They were not busy. There was only 2 small tables with customers when we arrived. Will never be back! We are driving all the way to Hartwell to El Parian.
Definitely a 2 star restaurant. The table was very wobbly and the music is way to loud. The coke was completely flat. Chips tasted like old grease and the salsa was definitely nothing to brag about. The food itself was okay but nothing to brag about.
We ate inside months ago and it was pretty good. But, I ordered to-go last night and was terribly disappointed. I got the chicken fajita and counted maybe 10 tiny pieces of chicken in amongst mounds of peppers & onions that had NO taste to any of it. My husband got the Enchiladas Supreme and, honestly, it was just gross; slimy even. He completely tossed it into the trash without a bite. The salsa was visually watered down and even the guacamole. I don't like giving bad reviews and the people working there are so nice, but that was $30+ down the drain. I understand food is stupid expensive nowadays and they are probably trying to make it stretch as much as they can, but you can't stay in business with food like this; especially when there's a Mexican restaurant every mile in MC.

Decided to try this restaurant a few weeks after it opened. Had heard a few people say it was decent. It was not that good at all. It was pretty busy that night so maybe that's what it was. Also, the service was not that good either.

The food is great! Authentic Tex Mex. They are new and building their atmosphere still so progress takes time. Friendly service with a smile and it's very clean. The bright lighting makes for a cafeteria ambiance. They have a large flat screen on one wall behind their bar. They still are waiting on their alcohol license before they can break out their spirits. Great place to eat. Their steak ranchero is fantastic. I'm addicted. Put it over tortilla chips for an extra yummy meal. There isn't a steak better prepared unless you do it yourself.

Ate here while at a soccer tournament in the area. I was really surprised by this little place. Atmosphere is a little strange but the food and service were great. Will definitely go here again when in the area.

If I could give it less than one star I would. My best friend and I used to come here once a week. When Trish worked here, everything was always amazing. When she left, me and my friend kept trying to come here but we didn’t enjoy the atmosphere, but we still loved the food. But then, we slowly stopped going there. I recently went there with my boyfriend and his family (it was their first time coming), because even though I disliked the service skills, the food was always good. This time when we went, we waited over an hour for our food. When we got the food I ordered the birria tacos, which was my favorite thing to eat there. I had to wait an addition 25 minutes for the soup that’s supposed to come with it, by then my food was cold. Despite that I still was willing to eat it, I spit out the first bite because it tasted so horrible. I was so disappointed because that was my favorite meal. My boyfriend and his father got the taco salad. They hardly touched it. The food was ice cold, and there was hardly any meat. Soon after that, while waiting in line to pay I noticed a small boy in the kitchen dragging the chip cans across the floor upside down, where the top of the cans were against the floor. I paid and left. While outside my boyfriend proceeded to get super sick and throw up everything he ate. That was the only meal he had so of course, it was because of the food. The next day I tried to call and talk to the manager, someone took my name and told me they’d call me. Nobody reached out. Despite that I called a few more times, I even talked to the managers nephew and he even agreed that my visit sounded horrible and that the manager would give me a call. Nobody ever reached out. 0/5. I would never recommend this place ever again to anyone, and as a matter of fact I strongly encourage people not to go there, bad service, bad food, horrible all the way around.
Dietary restrictions: I live gluten and dairy free. And they were able to accommodate me. The girl that was in the kitchen even came out and shared information with me and was very Accommodating. And it was yummy! Definitely going back

I've been pleasantly surprised at the food quality and quantity each time I've been there, at least once a week since they opened the Danielsville location 7 miles from my house. There are 5 closer Mexican restaurants to me, but this one has won me over. Tonight I was in the mood for steak, and as most of you know, there is not a steakhouse anywhere closer than Athens. Some of the other Mex-Tex places list a steak on their menus but each place I tried I was served a thin piece of beef suitable for tacos, but not as an entree... however El Timon serves up a thick 12oz ribeye that was tasty and delicious. ? I'll be back more often. Pics attached of actual steak I had tonight, normally there are onions and peppers added, but I left mine off.Great tacos too! Stuffed full of goodness, plump full of flavor...yummy.
Food was 10/10. Was disappointed no alcohol could be served at this time, but will be back to try the margaritas. The indoor decor needs to be improved to embody a Mexican restaurant.

Nice spot to grab some good & quick Mexican food. Definitely can’t go wrong with making them your choice for lunch or dinner.
