I visited ChocoLaté Coffee while passing through town and had an overall mixed experience. The service was okay and the atmosphere was fine, but neither really stood out. Unfortunately, the prices felt far too high for the quality offered.
I was especially disappointed with the coffee. I paid around $6–$7 for a small cup, and it simply wasn’t good. I didn’t even finish it, which is very unusual for me. I ended up throwing it out. For that price point, I expected much better.
This might work for others, but based on my experience, it wasn’t worth the cost.

This is my #1 coffee shop in Decatur. I have loved since my first visit which was almost two years ago. I come here very often. The hot drinks are my go. Chai Lattes are always yummy. I got mine extra spiced and they make it so perfectly 😍
Desserts are so so good. My weakness is their Tiramisu 🤤
Service is quick and friendly.
Atmosphere is clean, music plays softly in the background.

Really well done coffees. The new smoked Canadian latte, with the extra added heat known as the angry Canadian was unique and Interesting. Very creative baristas

The restaurant is nice but the girl with the purple hair was very rude and made a few snarky comments at me when i didn’t hear her call for my food. Everytime i’ve been here the staff have just been very unkind.

A one shot cortado cost me $3.86 before tip and came in a tiny 2 oz cup. The default three shot cortado at Starbucks costs $4.72 in a 8 oz cup.

Oh, and they're still selling those Sam's Club muffins that another reviewer pointed out 4 months ago, so I guess they just don't care.

This past Friday, I asked for a pumpkin spiced latte and it tasted like straight espresso and milk. I didn’t take but two sips out of the drink and asked for more flavor to be added to the drink due to the strong espresso taste. The barista took back the drink and diluted the drink with more milk and no flavoring. I asked for a refund after politely stating that I did not taste any pumpkin spice in my latte and the cashier in the front with the orange hair blew me off. She stated that they don’t give out refunds and that they could put a word in with the manager, which was a complete lie just to get me out of the restaurant at that point because it was made apparent there was absolutely nothing they were going to do about my $9 coffee not being made how I requested. I was left with no resolution or anyone who could potentially help me to get this resolved. Needless to say I will not be returning due to nonchalant customer support.

Wonderful study spot and the staff were wonderful! I would like to gatekeep this place, but its too good a spot to keep hidden. The expresso is also more mild and a bit floral. If you prefer your coffee stronger, I suggest adding a shot but the ratio they provide fits my taste buds and I prefer it as is.

There’s currently no prices on the menu as they’re “restructuring” their prices. I paid 10 DOLLARS for a 12 oz matcha with syrup. That would be 5 dollars at Starbucks. I’m more than happy to support a local business, as this is what I usually do but my usual spot is closed for renovations. 10 dollars is enough to get a meal at some places, and here it’s enough to get the smallest matcha size, with a price that’s decided upon at the register like it’s an expensive fish. LOL. Terrible drink too, not mixed at all. First few sips were straight syrup, then chunky badly blended matcha. Loud environment. An alarm went on for several minutes when I was trying to have a relaxing read. Never again. This place won’t last much longer. Unfortunate to see another local place fall into shambles

Horrible place to go to. The employees are rude and seem to be racist. I ordered a frappe but it didn’t come with coffee. How is it a frappe without coffee? I nicely went and told the employee and she became rude saying we don’t read minds if you want coffee you have to say it…. Ummmm hellloooo aren’t yall a coffee place?! And began to give me “tips” or “advice” on how to order coffee as if I am dumb or don’t know nothing about coffee. I love trying out coffee shops so I know how to order coffee but she was being super rude and said “house rules, if you want it remade you have to pay since we did it correct and also accommodate you for the oat milk” $10 for a milkshake is crazy and they use powder. Ew not a good coffee shop. If you’re a minority don’t go here, literally felt like I timed traveled to the 1930’s .

(Regarding the North Decatur Plaza location)

I’ve been coming here almost daily to study, and I’ve always made it a point to support the business by purchasing drinks or snacks during my visits. It’s a place I genuinely enjoyed, until a recent experience left me feeling completely disrespected and disheartened.

On this particular day, I chose not to buy anything, something I rarely do. A staff member named Ella, who has taken my order a few times before, approached me and claimed that I come in and “never give [them] any business”, afterwards giving me a note basically saying I needed to make a purchase or leave. I was shocked. Not only was the note rude, but the accusation that I “never” buy anything was simply false. I’ve spent plenty of time and money here over the past weeks, always in good faith.

I understand that businesses rely on customer purchases, but there’s a way to handle things respectfully—especially with regular customers who have consistently supported the café. It was upsetting to be treated as if I were freeloading, when I’ve done the exact opposite.

I hope the management takes this as an opportunity to train their staff on how to better approach situations like these. A little awareness and customer care can go a long way.

Honestly I've come here a lot but it's just so inconsistent. There's only one person there that consistently makes a good drink, other than that I've had to throw out multiple lattes. I just don't understand how one drink can vary so much. Some days it's nice and balanced, others it's overly sweet and watery, and sometimes it's just flavoured milk. I genuinely couldn't drink my most recent latte cause it tasted like water

I visited with my grandson and granddaughter in the afternoon on the 10th August.
The young man made a matcha tea for me. After tasting it I wasn’t pleased. I asked him if I could exchange it for another drink, after all it was $8 for a medium drink. Instead of offering another solution , such as remake the drink, he began to ring me up for another drink. He said that I need to pay again since he made it to required specs.
I am truly offended. Although I’ve frequented chocolate several times, I’ve never seen this young man before. Quite honestly this was a very unprofessional way to handle a client. Not happy about the incident. I took the drink and walked down to the soup kitchen where there was a more inviting and welcoming atmosphere.
