The service was fine and the food was okay. Nothing special. Could certainly use more flavor. The worst issue that needs to be immediately cleaned is the dust balls around the booths and overhang. While trying to eat, it’s unappealing. We would have sat outside but wanted to avoid the heat and mosquitoes.

It was ok, staff was really nice, however I have a pet peeve with Mexican restaurants serving margaritas from a premade pitcher, in this case it definitely looked and tasted a couple days old

We were excited to try Coyote's Mexican Grill after reading so many positive reviews. A heads-up for anyone visiting, the location is a little tucked away and parking is limited, so plan accordingly.
The service was a high point – we were seated almost immediately. I ordered the fajitas and my wife got a burrito. The flavors in both dishes were good, but we felt the food wasn't particularly special or unique. We also found the margarita to be disappointing; it was weak and tasted more like a pre-made mix.
While nothing was terrible, the overall experience didn't quite match our expectations. It's a decent spot, but we were hoping for a bit more.

I have gone to Coyote's Mexican Grill for years!!! When it was a little hole in the wall on Trinity, to College Ave in the old Mrs. Winner's to where they are now. The food used to be amazing! Now it's mediocre. The most disappointing part of recent experiences is the SERVICE or the lack thereof. The short, older grouchy guy needs to retire from serving tables and maybe bartend. He's a part of the restaurant's fabric, but he's made deciding to patronize the place anymore difficult. The overall customer service at CMG has been hit or miss for a while now and makes driving further away for better service a no-brainer. On my last visit, I just picked my food up not to be subjected to the poor service.
I had been here countless times for about 10 years and from what I’ve experienced, this place is only good when the owner’s family is around. When the actual owner’s family isn’t there, the staff plays around too much.
I took my parents here on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at around 1PM because they were visiting from California and had to fly back that evening, so this was supposed to be the last meal before being dropped off at the airport. We waited almost two hours and no food was delivered to the table.
Once the time started getting closer to 3PM and still no food had arrived, I asked the waitress what was going on. She said she had two tables of 20 or something like that.
Why would she take another table knowing she and the kitchen staff wouldn’t be able to handle it?
Had she told us they were that busy we would’ve chose somewhere else to eat. Somewhere that can actually get some food out to the tables in a timely manner no matter how busy it gets.
We paid for our drinks and walked out.
After nearly 10 years, I probably won’t be returning.

Absolutely delicious! I ordered the tacos and it came with rice and beans. I really enjoyed my meal
I was really looking forward to my Tamarindo Agua drink, but this place has officially lost me — they’ve messed up my order for the third time. This time I ordered two Tamarindo Aguas Frescas, and instead got Tamarind Jarritos Sodas — completely different, the Jarritos is cheaper than the agua fresca, and tastes nothing like the fresh, natural drink I paid for.
No call, no heads-up, not even an apology. Just the wrong items shoved into the bag like it doesn’t matter. For the prices they charge, you’d expect at least basic accuracy and a little care.
This was the last straw. I won’t be ordering from here again.
Side note: there are no refunds on drinks.
Our Favorite Local Spot – A True Gem!
We absolutely love this place. It's hands-down our favorite Mexican restaurant in Decatur—and honestly, maybe all of Atlanta. The food is consistently tasty, the prices are super reasonable, and the frozen margaritas? Easily the best in town. (Seriously, don't skip the Frozen Texas Margarita.)
We come here often and are always impressed by how fast the food comes out and how well-run everything is. This is very much a family-owned vibe that makes you feel like a regular even if it’s your first time.
Also worth noting: the air conditioning is always blasting, which makes it the perfect reward after a hot summer walk. Whether you’re craving tacos, enchiladas, or just a strong margarita and chips, this spot delivers every single time.
Highly recommended. Support this local gem—you won’t regret it!
The food itself was really good! Everyone at my table loved what they ordered, and prices were reasonable! The patio is okay, but inside could use some work. Also seemed understaffed the night we went
