Guru Restaurant and Bar

Closed restaurant and kept our deposit for the location. Very poor business management and sad day for black businesses that operate like this….crooks- God sees everything

While the food and decor at this restaurant are undeniably great, the service leaves much to be desired. We waited over an hour for our appetizers to arrive—meatballs that were burnt and unappetizing, a delicious kale and artichoke dip, and lobster bites. To make matters worse, we never received utensils, even after asking for them. The issues continued with our main courses. The waiter forgot to take our order, and it took another hour for all three dishes to be served. We had ordered the salmon dish, oysters Rockefeller with a wedge salad, and an egg scrambler. The egg scrambler took an astonishing hour to arrive, and when the oysters came out, they were chargrilled instead of the oysters Rockefeller we had ordered. As a gesture of apology, the manager offered us dessert to share, but we declined, feeling that the entire experience had already been frustrating enough. Though the food and atmosphere are pleasant, the service needs significant improvement to match the quality of the meal.

My experience at Guru Restaurant and Bar was nothing short of exceptional! The attention to detail in the décor, combined with the warm and attentive service, made me feel like a VIP throughout the night. The food was delicious and cocktails were expertly crafted. If you’re looking for a place to indulge in fine dining with a sophisticated atmosphere, Guru is the place to be. Truly a 5-star experience in every way!

Sooo happy I found this place for my birthday dinner! It was everything I needed it to be. And Alicia was THE BEST. She met us at the door with a wonderful greeting, and treated us wonderfully all night. The restaurant is BEAUTIFUL and the food was delicious. I will be returning! 5 stars!

Employee don’t wash they hands and food be raw with bugs flying around the food in the kitchen. And the food be out of date and they don’t pay they employees good at all. And they don’t want kids in the restaurant. The owner have a problem with kids for some reasons. 1 star! Just of the area they in)) these or facts!!!

Had an amazing experience at The Guru this past weekend. It was quite possible the best French 75 I have ever tasted, and I order them a lot! I had the salmon entree that was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for a great dining experience in the Decatur area.

My experience here was phenomenal. The owner served us and gave great customer service. My wife loved the chicken and waffles. The salmon was perfectly flavored. The ambience was excellent.

Party of 6 and happen to be the only ones there however service was slow. The waitress was nice just took a while to bring food and drinks. I ordered Guru berry drink came in a cute heart shaped cup. The drink was great! Ordered chicken and waffle plate which was 3 small waffles with a chicken strip on each. It was good just wish it was more filing more like tapas. The ambiance was nice and they gave us a brownie to celebrate the birthday girl!

Wow! What a gem!! The food was amazing, service was good and the vibe was exactly what we were looking for! The drinks were on point and the presentation was picture perfect! Food was very flavorful! All in all it was fantastic. I can’t wait to try out their brunch items which are offered all day!!
