Wholesale bakery only - not open to the public.

Is it better to have loved and lost or not to have ever loved? I had the privilege to have several of Chris's croissants. Words can't describe how delicious they were. There are a million layers. I knew from the first bite I would never be able to eat a cheap croissant again. Ratio Bakeshop at this location is no more and last I heard Chris had left the south to live on the west coast. Our loss

Ratio Bakeshop is the illusive speakeasy of Atlanta bakeries. After reading the reviews warning of inconsistencies in retail hours and scouring their website for more info, i was stumped. How could I get some of these marvelous pastries I kept seeing in pictures? Were they even open to the public? Their website mentions that retail orders can be placed online, so I decided to send an email to try and do just that. I requested a half dozen ciabatta rolls for a meal I was planning later in the week, and two chocolate croissants, just because. Even for such a tiny order, the business owner was quick and courteous to confirm pickup for Saturday morning. Getting in was only possible with the advice of my fellow Yelpers. My addition: - Enter parking garage from Kroger side - Wait for someone to let you in to the building on the right side of the parking garage - Don't get into the elevator - Make an immediate left instead and find the bakery at the end of the hall You'll smell the bakery when you enter the garage, so when your salivary glands kick into overdrive you'll know you've arrived. The space inside is now sparse, but it's not a place designed for lingering, it's a corporate enterprise. It was worth the anticipation. The ciabatta was soft and fluffy, and the layers on these chocolate croissants were beyond impressive. They got the chocolate to croissant ratio just right. The prices were solid too! To those left wondering: Ratio doesn't have retail hours currently. The owner mentioned that business was too spotty to be worth the extra help, though to their credit they have tried several times to bring it back. But for those serious about their leavened dough, just send an email, order a mass of baked goods to get you through the week, and go for a little adventure to collect your sweet haul at this secluded shop.

Hey Ratio, I spent months trying to figure out your location, then finally located your 'storefront' on a weekday, when you were closed. Vowed to return on one of your weekend retail mornings. Welp, I've just come at 9am on a Saturday to finally buy your goods and was greeted by a locked door with no signage to indicate when, or if, you'd be open. It sure was fun to see your bakers hard at work inside and smell the goods baking, though! Have just found out you're not open this morning now. There was zero information on your Facebook page or website. The hidden 'speakeasy' thing was cute for a while, but I'm over it. Won't be returning, ever. Plenty of other bakeries in town: plus I've had your goods at other local venues and while good, they are hardly earth shattering. Note: I tried to post this as a comment and a review on their Facebook page but was blocked by their page admin. I see that another Yelper on here actually had his review taken down. HEY, RATIO?? Instead of blocking negative feedback, how about responding to criticism and thinking about ways to improve the experience for your customers?

I think that something has to be clarified about this place. It essentially has no public hours, despite a web page and several other reviews here which suggest that they have retail hours on the weekend. I attempted to stop by on a Saturday morning (so, if you were ever going to be open, that would be the time), and after much searching, found only a locked door through which you could smell freshly baking items. After realizing there was not much hope of getting a pastry, I called the number to find out that there weren't actually retail hours. Perhaps the facebook page has been updated since I tried to stop by, as there is no longer any mention of public hours. The ownership really should clarify on the web/facebook/yelp what their business model really is. If it's private orders only, so be it... You might find the pastries at local restaurants or order them for an event and pick them up. However, for practical purposes this place is super hard to find and never open, so if you're looking for a pastry shop to drop in look elsewhere.

I've noticed the CPI influenced the ATL pastry industry within 2017, which means the bakeshops I normally go either brought up the price ( Alon's ) or shrinked the pastry size a little bit ( Little Tart & Proof )...but the price/size wise didn't change at Ratio (thanks to its non-retail cost?) I called today before I went there, was told my fave Almond Croissant (they are my NO.1 choice in ATL now, and Ratio's version is HUUUUUUGE, pro bigger than your face) was unsurprisingly SOLD OUT AGAIN.... But when I arrived, Becca told me she made a new batch for me!!! Where else you can find this type of homy/warm hearted service?!! Would def be a regular here! Tho it listed only do retail to walk-ins Fri/Sat 10am-2pm, you can always call them in advance to make anything you need (don't know about the cakes tho) and pick-up. Wish they found a right spot for retail space soon.

They don't do cakes anymore. Found the entrance a 1pm on a Tuesday & it was locked. Entered through the kitchen. Total fail.

I called yesterday in desperation looking for brioche. Although the retail store had closed, they kindly opened it up for me to get the last (enormous) loaf of brioche and a plain and almond croissant to try. My Belgian girlfriend said these are the best croissants she's found in the 15 years she's lived in the US, and the brioche is also excellent.

Bought a bacon cheese quiche and cranberry chocolate scone at a festival where they set up a booth. Oh. My. Gosh!! We would travel over oceans to get back to their baked goods! So tasty, flavorful!!! The quiche had a crust that was flaky and beautiful. Real slices of onion and nicely chopped bacon. Mmmmm. Go get yourself one!! Your family will Thank you.

So glad we found Ratio. We were on the hunt for breakfast sweets. I naively thought I would take my girls to Kroger and let them pick out their own doughnuts at the bakery... Kroger on Commerce, no doughnuts on a Saturday morning is seriously the last straw. BUT without this set back we would not have gone across the street to Ratio. It's a small place, but there was an amazing assortment of baked goods to choose from. We got the chocolate croissant, chocolate cream cheese muffin, and apple scone. I sort of regret not getting the bacon pimiento cheese danish, but there's always next time.

Can't get enough of their pastries especially the danish. they have all the flavors! I'm so in love with the peaches!

Ordered my mom's birthday cake here online. It looked gorgeous and tasted great! As others have noted it can be a bit difficult to find, but their retail store is now closed. The interaction online with Chris was easy and produced exactly what I wanted. I will definitely order from here again.

5 stars for the breakfast sandwich. Perfectly cooked and fluffy scrambled eggs, bacon, and cheese on a ratio ciabatta bun that is bigger than my head. I would marry this breakfast sandwich. I would walk miles in the desert for this sandwich. I'm going back tomorrow to get another one! This place is on the terrace level of commerce plaza. The only reason I know about it is because my dentist office is in that building. Ratio will validate your parking if you spend 10 or more dollars, so bring a friend or walk. I reccommend this place to everyone I meet, it is a real hidden gem.

I'm giving this place 5 stars for food and atmosphere. I'd give it 2 stars for location but that's not the owner's fault. Ratio:Bakeshop mostly makes things for wholesale. You might have run across their products at shops like Octane. This is good because they'd never survive on walk-in customers. The croissants are superb. Flaky and tasty. One of the best I've ever had. I encourage you to go. But it is hard to find. Think of it as a treasure hunt with a great prize at the end. Find the Kroger on Commerce Drive in Decatur. Across the street is a nondescript parking garage. Enter the garage and turn right in the darkness and to the building entrance. Tug on the door. The aroma of baked goods envelops you. Enter the hallway and turn left. You'll see Ratio at the end. Order and enjoy. Order more for later. The problem is that the buildings owner won't let them have a sign. Bad business decision since Ratio could easily have a booming walk-in business if more people knew.
