Based on multiple visits April and May 2021. As early as April 2021, they had full dining inside, but Yelp! or Google may be going off old info when they say “outdoor only.” This place is very diligent about Covid protocols, by the way. Summary: Great breakfast/brunch place, especially for mornings when you want to be outside. One of my two favorite ATL breakfast places when the weather is warm (Bread & Butterfly being the other). Food: Chicken/Biscuit sandwich is really good but way too large. Chorizo tacos are an appropriate size (satisfying but won’t weigh you down first thing in the morning). You can get gravy as a side—really good. Food leans on the healthier and more refined side. Vibe: Really nice residential vibe (a nice escape from metro ATL). Like Canton Street in Roswell, but not as busy. Similar to downtown to Decatur as well. Perfect on a sunny morning, but they also have table umbrellas if it’s too much for you. Also, Bess Walker Park—one of my favorite places in/around all of Atlanta—is a two-minute drive away. Service: Great; friendly.
Beautiful presentation and flavor!!
Great Service & Amazing Food. Highly recommended
Just moved into the small community and i wanted something to eat. Hunny chile the food is OFF the chain good and the owners are so delightful, respectful and sweet! Will definitely be a regular of theirs.
I am incredibly pleased every time I order from Rise N Shine ATL. The French toast sandwich is my favorite. The bread is soft and the chicken sausage is really the perfect touch for people who don’t eat pork. But then again, the salmon is eggs is also my favorite. They add a brown sugar glaze on top of it and it really gives it that Je n’ai ce quoi. I highly recommend when you’re in the mood for a tasty small bite.
we were in the area and were looking for a nice brunch place so decided to try Rising Son. The safety protocols they follow are temp taking, spaced tables and servers wearing masks. We ordered the flatbread with egg on the side, breakfast sammy, and the fried green tomato and fruit on the side. Overall, the food was good with decent flavors and taste; the portion size was also good. The eggs were cooked well and the flatbread was especially good. the fried green tomato had a good crust but needed some more spice/flavor. the mini hash browns were also good as well as the biscuit the good food was added with good customer service and a nice ambience. overall, a nice brunch place in avondale estates
OMG people, if you haven't ordered from this place then I don't know what you're doing. Food is awesome!!! The french toast, the salmon and grits, the chicken and waffles; it's all good.
They’re an at home take out pop up breakfast, the owners were very professional. I’ve eaten from them about 3 times last week. There’s nothing better than a home cooked breakfast served from the stove to the box. They delivered my food to me curbside. It’s a small starter business and black owned in a local neighborhood. I encourage everyone to support them, you won’t regret it! I had the salmon n’eggs. It was sooo good!!
To be an at home based, the food is so good. When you’re one of those “I don’t eat everybody’s cookin” folks like I am, they won’t steer you wrong. The owners are even more pleasant. I will be back.
Our friend’s son owns Rising Son, and we‘ve wanted to eat there for a while (we don’t live near here). Finally made it today! It’s a casual, comfortable restaurant with a dash of retro to it. Tina Turner was coming through the sound system. The menu has creative combinations of ingredients. We started with Crispy Breakfast Dumplings: ground pork, ginger, cilantro, and soy maple syrup. Yum!! My husband had the C.B.C.B. - fried chicken, bacon, cheddar biscuit. It was HUGE and the chicken was delicious! I ordered the vegetable plate which was more than I could finish. Diagonal cut fried okra was fun, but the coup de grace was Hudson’s green bean casserole. No yucky cream of mushroom soup, but creamy cheese and delicate fried onions on top. If you’re in the area, it would be a great choice for breakfast or lunch. ❤️
Restaurantji Recommends
Cute breakfast place in Avondale. Fresh pressed pineapple juice, Ginormous biscuits and yummy grits. Didn’t care for bacon or hash browns which were tiny cubes of potato. Friendly service
What a wonderful spot. We had brunch and the food was great. Grits were on point. Biscuits.....out of this world. Some of the best I’ve had and I’m a southern boy. Highly recommend this restaurant.
I was excited to eat here, I had been once before and enjoyed it. That was when it first opened. I decided to take some family who was here just overnight for brunch before catching their flight. It took a while before we were waited on. The coffee was cold and the food was not very good. I had something with a tomato gravy and I did not enjoy it. The eggs were not warm and the biscuits did not seem fresh.
Confession: we’ve been coming for breakfast since they opened and love the food and the people. I’m quite traditional on the breakfast front and usually order the Kickstart to get a delicious basic breakfast. Early on I would go a la carte to get the fried chicken and a biscuit (each delicious) and now they have the CBCB on the menu to get a gigantic mound of delicious biscuit filled with bacon, cheddar, and two huge slabs of chicken. All wonderful. But lately we’ve become enamored with the dinners - especially the small plates! We still wax poetic over a carrot salad (carrots roasted, pickled, and raw with cheese and herbs that made your mouth sing) offered at peak carrot season. Tonight it was a melon salad and shishito poppers with a peach sauce that really compliments the fried peppers. They are really hitting their stride and we are benefiting. The sodas and cocktails are also amazing, which just shows what a great team Kathrine and Hudson are and what a big part their access to fresh ingredients plays. Definitely come give it a try. Free parking is readily available in front and behind the restaurant as well as some free city lots nearby if you drive during peak times. Check the Avondale Estates website for parking options.
Everything is so good. We really love the fried chicken, the trout, and all of the seasonal offerings. The lovely cocktails hit the spot every time. And everyone is friendly. Love it!
