I'd been here before. I thought the food was okay, a little pricey but okay. Today I took a friend for lunch. I got a lunch special and a drink and he got the an entry and a drink, $48...there was an 15% automatic gratuity on the subtotal, several taxes and additional fees. Then the person who took our order gave me the option to include another tip knowing that the tip was already included (but not telling me). One of the staff did her best to clean it up, even tried to give me the tip back. She was professional and kind. I still left feeling hustled. The food was okay. It was food.

This was my first time visiting Spanky's. The waitress Megan was really nice in friendly. I ordered the fried Turkey ribs with greens, macaroni and cheese. Everything was good, expect the macaroni. It was not fresh at all. It was dry, no chess, & It did not have any seasoning me. The peach lemonade was really good. It tastes like Kool-aid. We were even charged an gratuity with our order when it was only a party of three.

I ordered via DoorDash, the restaurant was out of my item and wrote on the receipt for the dasher to call me to replace the sold out item, why was my incomplete order available for them to even get? Never again, Mac n cheese and collards over seasoned, fries soggy and cold. The store is only 6 mins from my home so this ain’t on door dash it’s on spankys.

It's an old building but kind of kept up with it.Rib tips had a decent taste salt overload. I don't have blood pressure concerns, but after eating those, my head was pounding. Served with fries as an option gave me pause with no substitute fees. So, pretty much take the cold stale fries. I can see that with wings or a burger, but ribs/tips that's a reason to go along with me not ordering again. I purchased collard greens also. They appeared to be cooked in a pressure cooker and were dingy and dry. Taste like cinnamon and dry, I didn't understand. Those were the worst greens I've ever had. Parsley is their thing, lol. It was plated well.Peach lemonade was decent.The waiter was a sweetheart.I think the owner came in and was polite and friendly.18% Gratuity for a pick up is wild.It's not an A1 review.

Unfortunately, I ended up throwing all the food away after 1 bite of each side.Collards were salty and lacked flavor all you tasted was the salt, the Mac and cheese didn't have a cheese flavor and was very mushy, the cabbage lacked flavor, sweet potatoes were okay. The peach cobbler was pre-made/prepackaged in a container like something you would buy from Walmart.. it was okay. After, not enjoying the sides.. I'm afraid to try the meat.Also, there is a very strong gas smell at the front counter.

The bad reviews are true.I didn't want to believe them so I gave them a shot anyway. Seems they tend to get orders wrong or somethings missing from orders alot.They definitely botched my order. I placed order via door dash. Ordered Cajun pasta, pizza puff and cake. Cake was not delivered with rest of order. I called the restaurant and after speaking with 3 different ladies no one attempted to make the order right. I was expected to come and get the cake after I already tipped the delivery driver defeating the whole purpose of having food delivered. A waste of my time, gas and money for me to drive there unless they made it worthwhile. Customer service needs to improve to at least meet customers half way to correct mistakes. I don't see myself ordering here again.

I found out about this place through Instagram! I started following them and loved what they had to offer!My first visit and I got the Turkey Leg with Mac and cheese and collard greens, jalapeno cheese cornbread and a mango lemonade.I took my meal home and the food is BEYOND OUTSTANDING!!!! I look forward to going back!!As a Chicago native, I love that they have a "Taste of Chicago" menu!However, the service needs improvement!I sat at the counter for too long before to place my order!Several people were just acting like I wasn't there and I had to TELL the young lady I was ready to place my order, she replied "oh, I thought you did already"....how, when I was sitting there for 10 minutes?!I loved the music that was playing and found myself singing and snapping my fingers as I waited to get my order.One lady (waitress) was staring at me, yet she didn't say hello or gave a warm welcome.She just walked up to me and stared at me as I was singing, no hello or how are you or anything! I smiled and kept singing!The place is nice but needs some deco on the walls, something nice to look at besides tv monitors. The walls are just too blank!They don't serve alcohol but you can BYOB, which is not a bad idea.I would recommend the ladies bump up their service skills, it needs to improve!And put some pictures on the walls, it's a little drab, but the food was absolutely delicious!!!!

The food is amazing!The fried turkey ribs are perfect, I've never even heard of them before.The turkey leg was so good, it just fell off the bone.This is my favorite Mac and cheese ? ? that I've ever eaten, the collard & the cabbage are sooo good.I wish this place was closer to my neighborhood, but definitely worth the drive.

I like this place a whole lot don’t get me wrong, but the issue is they inflate food prices, I’ll give you an example. If you look at their menu it says for tacos supposed to be $16, and2 tacos supposed to be 8 dollars.I asked them for eight tacos they gave me a price of $50. I turned it down. I got the four tacos. The four tacos came up to $25. There is no way that four tacos should ever cost you $25 when it says $16 on the menu, Im from here yall gotta stop cappin on yall prices yall got GOOD food BUT YALL HAVE EMPLOYEES ADDING HIDDEN FEES TO YALL CUSTOMERS TABS.
