What a waste of $40. I ordered through their website. I ordered the Aloo Kachori, the Kadai Chicken and the Dal Tarka.Firstly, when I arrived, the food was not ready. They also did not speak very good English so it wasn’t the easiest to communicate. The “restaurant” (if you can call it that” was like something out of a horror movie. It was 7pm, Friday evening, completely empty, nobody in there, no menus, empty fridge, it was like it was closed down. It was also EXTREMELY dirty. The lady handed me my food, friendly enough, so I happily walked off and thought, to the hell of it, it may be the “hole in the wall” someone else described so I tried the food when I got home. First of all, the rice, looked nice, until I noticed 2 black hairs in it (not mine since I’m blonde). So obviously I didn’t eat this. The Kadai Chicken had a nice flavor but totally inedible due to the amount of oil and the chicken was totally fat and bone, despite me ordering boneless chicken breast. The Dal Tarka was tasteless and tasted sweet. The Aloo Kachori looked nice but I didn’t try it after the hair incident in the rice.I really wanted to like this place as I cannot find a good, traditional, Indian restaurant apart from the street food ones, but this one needs shutting down. I would have called them to get my money back but unfortunately communication would not have got me anywhere. If they read this though, I would like a refund. I booked through your website.
Second time in two weeks, l have eaten at a lot of other restaurants around and this is a hidden gem, I think it’s a couple that own it, very friendly and food is outstanding!!! Tucked in the corner next to Kroger, highly recommend ?
Quite high quality food. The seating area is very basic, but we got takeout. Perfectly seasoned, a bit of a bite to it but not overly spicy, just complex, really interesting flavors. Recommended, good value for the money.
I used to love this place, but service has declined. We ordered online and it said food would be ready in 20-30 minutes. It was over an hour for the food to be ready and the restaurant wasn't busy at all. No explanation. Just a half hour of "it's almost ready" and "we're packing it up". Food was good once we finally got it, but I won't be returning.
Food is very good
Food for were good ? ?
This is a hidden gem hole-in-the-wall restaurant! It has been in this location for at least the last 8 years, and having now (finally) eaten here it is obvious why they survived the initial covid-19 pandemic. The food here is excellent, and would be very good as takeout or to go food as well as dine in. We wanted a break from being in the house and the restaurant itself was relatively empty, so we decided to eat in.Eating in is no frills, very casual dining, but the food itself is what you are paying for here! I think their prices are comparable to other Indian restaurants in the area, and I felt like we got a good amount of food for the amount we paid (about $40 for two of us after tip)We ordered one order of the onion naan, the Khadi Chicken, and the Tandori Chicken Leg (which is a whole half chicken, two thighs and two drumsticks, served with the thigh and drumstick still attached). It had some spice but wasn't so spicy that I couldn't enjoy the flavors as well.It was really a very nice experience -- they were available if we needed anything but also left us alone to enjoy our dinner. Water is self serve from the water machine.I hope this restaurant continues to do well and stays around -- I'll be eating here again!
Vegetarian options: They had a whole section of vegetarian dishes on their menu!
Parking: They share the lot with the big Kroger, so there is plenty of parking.
I’ve been coming to Spice Root in Decatur for years, and they never disappoint. It’s honestly such a hidden gem and some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had. The people who work there are also really nice. The lady at the front even helped me bring my food to my car.
The food was amazing! The owner's are a desi couple and it really felt like eating my mom's home cooked meal! The portions were really large as well. Usually chicken 65 is a small appetizer that you have to order two servings of but she gave me such a big helping! Also don't forget to try the desserts, the falooda was amazing! 12/10
Delicious food that was cooked fresh after ordering! Samosas tasted home made, naan was fresh, and the chicken tikka, chicken 65 and chana masala were all so tasty I got goosebumps! If you can handle your spice, def request them to make it desi spicy level. The falooda was a delicious dessert to top it all off.Support your local restaurants :-)

The food here is authentic Pakistani, and is absolutely delicious!! We came across this restaurant on a road trip from Michigan to Florida, and loved it so much that we went 20 minutes out of our way on the way back just to have it again. The chicken kadhai is flavorful and has just enough heat, and the naan is freshly made. We even took a mutton biryani to go for dinner. I wish we had this restaurant in Michigan-we would definitely be repeat customers!
If you’re looking for authentic Pakistani food, come here! Our dinner was freshly made from scratch, and tasted divine. The naan was freshly made and went perfect with the chicken kadai and daal tadka. The mango lassi was very sweet and I wasn’t impressed with it. However, we’re planning on coming back again each time we come to Atlanta!
This place has been under new management the last few months and our experience has been fantastic. The food is great, ready fast (usually 10-15 minute pickup), and they also make fresh naan/puri for every order that just elevates the experience.Highly recommend trying the Chicken Malai boti, Lamb Seekh Kabob, Garlic Naan, and Onion Kulcha. If you look at the negative reviews, most were with the old management (more than 3-4 months ago) that really seemed to be struggling near the end, they had greatly reduced the menu and what they had didn't seem very fresh.I recommend you give this place another shot if you haven't eaten there recently.
This is my 4th time visiting this place within a month!! Love the food and the management is great! The food is obviously delicious and that is the main reason why I am back now and then??♀️ So far I have had Kadhai chicken, chicken biryani, veg biryani, lassi, falooda, butter chicken and lemme tell you all its the best! There are alot of hyped indian restaurants nearby and those are nothing compared to this one they just more known I guess but this is the best food I have had after moving to the States ??? and the place is clean and open until 10 rest close at 9 so thats a plus!! I will be back again!
This restaurant seems to be under new management. My first impression is that I see a sign with a reduced price buffet. That's a red flag for me. They offered us buffet or menu, so naturally, we picked the menu. The waitress recommended the Chicken Tikka and another lamb dish, as well as the naan and kabobs. Me and my friend settled on Chicken Samosas, Chicken Tikka, Chicken Biriyani, various naan breads and the Mango Lassi. Everything was wonderful, the service, the food, no dirty dishes. I really enjoyed everything. There are a few things to hit on. I wish my chicken tikka had more chicken, but the sauce was excellent. I wish the Lassi was colder. Other than those little points it was a great dining experience. There are a lot of Indian options in the area, and they have to deal with what I see to be a bad reputation by the old owner, but it is worth another try now. Very good at reasonable prices.
