4 Best Chicken Wings in Donalsonville

“I grew up in Illinois and used to frequent a dozen different pizza joints. I’ve been stuck in Dothan the last year or so, desperate for ANY good pizza. They’re all pretty lousy around here, and the only good place I did find closed (The Brick in Enterprise). You wouldn’t believe my surprise when I saw that a Rosati’s opened up in Donalsonville.

The location in question is located in the Sunoco gas station on the corner of Third and Tennille. That didn’t matter to me as I always went to Rosati’s in gas stations in central and southern Illinois; to me all that really mattered is if they were using the right ingredients and cooking methods. Let me be the first (literally) to say that they most certainly, without a shadow of a doubt, ARE here in Donalsonville.

I will admit it isn’t quite as scrumptious as you’d get in the Midwest; I wasn’t expecting it to be. But it is definitely Rosati’s seasoning blend, dough, sauce, cheese, and most importantly, sausage. Rosati’s is a chain but they’re the best chain on the planet, and they take quality very seriously; any food coming out of an establishment that’s legally using their logo is going to be a 9/10 at a minimum.

This is an express location with a more limited menu; there aren’t as many appetizers as you’d expect from a typical Rosati’s, most notably missing out on the fried dough bites, and there aren’t any sandwiches on the menu yet either. Maybe this will change over time, but for now it’s basically just pizza, calzone, wings, fries, and cheese curds.

I don’t really mind either way, I’m just relieved that it exists and is as good as it is. I ordered a thin crust with sausage, a typical order for me up in Illinois. No notes, 10/10. I will certainly be back, probably sooner than you expect, and once I’ve sampled more of the menu I will either update this review or post another on a different account. I don’t imagine my reaction to other menu items will be much different.
