First time customer here and I will be returning! Customer service was excellent. Though one employee and I were the only customer there the young man was extremely kind, helpful and patient. I asked a few questions and he answered with a smile each time. I didn’t feel rushed at all. I ordered egusi and the spinach soup which I believe to be Efo. Each came with a choice of protein in which I chose white fish and a side of fufu. EVERYTHING WAS FLAVORFUL. I arrived maybe an hour before closing so this may be the reason for my fish being dry but I will surely order the fish again just much earlier in the day in hopes I just lucked out last night. Though I still enjoy the restaurant I usually drive 50 minutes to Stone Mountain for I’m glad to have finally given Mama Puts a try and will surely return!

The ogbono, egusi, jollof rice, goat, cow, turkey, and the moimoi was good; the spice was perfect. Reminded me of home. The meat pie was dry. Service was quick. Jollof rice was a bit over priced for one meat. Maybe some plantain would've made it worth it. They have a market next door which I also liked.

Very cheap, penny pinching restaurant. They will cheat you out of what you pay for. I purchased two different soups. One soup was a small portion IN A PLATTER with a lot of rice. My other soup was IN A BOWL like it should be with very little meat. Trying to get over on your customers will leave you stagnant with very few repeating customers. Do better

I honestly don’t understand any of these negative reviews. I guess you can say that I am a fairly newer customer. But I’ve been going to the restaurant faithfully now for the past several months. Each and every time I am greeted with a big smile!! The women behind the counter (there are two different ones) they smile and immediately make me feel like I am family. Most often when I come I get the egusi (prepared with no meat/dairy products as I’m vegan. Don’t judge me. This is my cheat meal.) it’s always absolutely delicious. If I ask to taste something they do so without hesitation. Very patient too I might add because sometimes it takes me time to decide what I want. I often call my son to show him what they have on the menu for the day. I am Haitian. And while Haitian cuisine is my favorite, I am no stranger to a plethora of different African cuisines. Mama Put always has me licking my fingers and elbows. This is why I’m so confused by some of these reviews. And when I say delicious, I mean I can’t even wait til I get home. The food is eaten completely in the car and I am wiping my mouth before I pull up to my home. And I live nearby!! The egusi is my favorite. But the spinach she makes me is omg too!! I have taken my very American friends and they loved it all too!! Food on point. Warm and welcoming environment. No issue when we dined there and asked for take out containers as another reviewer complained about. Very sweet. Very kind. And no one is paying me for this review. This is just my experience and I’m being truthful. If they tried to pay me though I’d take the food instead!! And they give a good amount of food. Not skimpy. I’m greedy and eat a lot!! Lol Thank you Mama Put for always making me feel like family when I come visit. Asé!!

I’m sorry, the food was horrible. I ordered egusi and fufu with goat meat. The owner gave me a very small portion. The soup was so nasty. I didn’t finish it. The fufu still had powder spots from not being mixed well. I ordered jollof rice and chicken for my 9 y.o. The rice was only spicy. No flavor. The chicken was humongous with little flavor. My adult daughter ordered pepper soup. Everyone had finished eating the portion we were willing to eat and my daughter STILL hadn’t received her food. They gave her money back because we came to eat together. If you want to dine-in you have to pay an additional fee, just to eat there. I will never return to this place. I live in locust grove and was looking for African food closer to me. From now on, I will take the drive to Bamba or Ike‘s. I was very disappointed. What a waste of money.

I try the pounded yam and egusi soup combo and the suya. It’s my first time trying this and it was incredible. The fufu and the egusi soup go so well together. Suya was also very well season and nice texture. Definitely a must try.

The quality here has gone downhill. Don’t buy fish from them—it’s consistently stale. We ordered mackerel stew yesterday, and the fish tasted like it had been frozen for months. The stew itself was just tomato paste with no real flavor. Whoever cooked it clearly lacks culinary skill. The owner needs to take this business seriously—the standards have dropped, and it shows.I bought grilled fish and plantain some weeks ago .The fish was not fresh at all ,the mackerel fish from yesterday was spoilt ,I was pissed .Never going there again .

0 Star — Horrible Experience, GOT EXTREMELY SICK , and Rude Owner!! DO NOT EAT HERE
My mother and I ordered from this place and got extremely sick after only 2–3 bites of their African food. We both ended up with food poisoning. The chicken they served us was clearly old, the inside was dark brown, dry, and tasted completely off.
I called the restaurant to explain what happened and was told I could get a refund after spending $80 on this awful meal, and that the owner would call me. When the owner finally called, she was very upset and defensive, showing no understanding or concern for what happened. Instead of offering a full refund, she said she would only refund $40. On top of that, she was extremely rude and even sent unprofessional and accusatory text messages, implying that I was recording our phone call, which was completely uncalled for. I’ve never had such a terrible experience with a restaurant before, both the food and customer service were unacceptable. If you value your health, your money, and basic respect, do not eat here.
