Let's Eat! I am ashamed of myself for waiting so long to visit this outstanding restaurant. Seriously. My family has passed by this restaurant literally 100s of times a year and we have never stopped. Today I did. The entire experience was on point from the moment I walked into Kem playing at a reasonable volume overhead. The smell and cleanliness of Papa Lou's reminded me of my aunties' house on any given Sunday, which is most definitely a real good clean smell . But what about the food, you ask? Superb! My crunchy pork chop, collard greens, mac and cheese (was that smoked Gouda I savored?), fried green tomatoes (with Papa Lou's sauce) and corn bread made me get real quiet and wriggle my toes with every bite :) And, the entire meal with taxes and tip costs $35. But, the portions are abundant. Part 2 of my meal will be eaten before tomorrow this tme. Don't overthink it Go to Papa Lou's

This was my first visit and the food was just ok. I ordered the fried wings and Mac n cheese. Once I added hot sauce to wings they were good and Mac n cheese was not good. One and done for me.

The young girl working the register was really nice! Tip her when you go in! The good was great i got a veggie plate and large order of fried green tomatoes only complaint was the tomatoes they were bland but everything else was good. I really loved the flavor of the okra. I will go back and try again

I'm not sure how the food was today. I drove by at 6:45 They advertise open late, curbside and take out on there window 2xs. A guy was sitting in front that's why i turned around to see it I could get some sides. He tells me those sign were from covid. Shame, shame shame. I'll try again soon
The food was not what I expected. I ordered the he Turkey wing plate. I received 1 turkey wing, but not even sure if I received the whole wing. Well I know I didn't. Now granted I like very tender wings but only a smidgen was still on the bone. The young lady that was fixing my to go plate kept picking up little pieces of meat and when I say little pieces I mean literally little pieces. And put the in over a very small bed of rice , she asked if I wanted gravy and I might have received a tablespoon full. I also got collard greens w turkey, no flavor, the dressing was to tight and bland and the macaroni and cheese was not it either. The only good thing on the plate was the cornbread. Not happy with the food especially since I paid almost $40 for one person. Will not be patronizing this place again.

From the time we entered the doors and greeted with a smile, until we exited, full as ticks; the experience was excellent! Customer service is top notch. And the food? Soul food at it's finest. We started with fried green tomatoes. Perfectly seasoned and battered. My entree was fried pork chop, mac/cheese and collards. Pork chop was tender and delicious. Mac and cheese was cheesey to the max and flavorful. Now I'm very particular about collard greens. I find that many restaurants and private homes overcook them, until they are wilted. Not at Papa Lou's. Collards were tender, yet still had a little snap to them. Just like God intended! We returned later before closing for carry-out. We took our order back to the hotel and promptly went to sleep. But I look forward to reheating my chicken wings for lunch today. And I also got more of that mac/cheese. We did get some key lime pie cake. Oh, it's gone! We ate that as soon as we returned to the hotel. Never had that dessert before in a cake. But I'm a fan now. Thanks Papa Lou's for the exemplary dining experience. Bless you all!

Everything was perfect and I love that it’s family owned too I will definitely be going back for more I enjoyed the turkey wings and the cabbage with the collards along with a piece of cornbread so delicious 😋

Today I finally caught Papa Lou Kitchen. I have been trying to catch this spot for 2 years. I will rate everything on a scale of 1 to 5
Smothered chicken - 5 a little salty but a 5
Cabbage - 5
Cornbread - 5
Mac and cheese - 3.5 - 4 it will give you a familiar taste, When you taste this Mac
Greens - 3 I really didn't taste the seasoning
Fried Green Tomatoes - 4
Sweet potato mash - 3.5 it has too much cinnamon. I really didn't taste the All Spice or vanilla in it.
Peach Cobbler - 4.
I will make sure to continue to support this business whenever I am in the area!!
