I went in looking for peacan pie, and walked out with key lime tarts and cupcakes. Very delicious and I'm looking forward to going back for the peacan pie next week.

Let me tell y’all how fate works. I was sitting in my Airbnb craving something sweet but absolutely refusing to drive more than five minutes. I stumbled across Buttersweet Bakery on North Central Avenue and honey, it was like a sugar siren calling my name. The charm of the place lured me right in and I walked through those doors fully prepared to commit a crime against a Key Lime Cupcake. Plot twist: they were sold out.
But fear not, because the sweetest lady behind the counter said, “Try the Lemon Cupcake.” And listen, that Lemon Cupcake was summertime in a wrapper. Bright, zesty, a little pick-me-up for my soul. I also grabbed a Red Velvet Cupcake because I don’t play games when it comes to dessert variety. The Red Velvet was delicious and gave what it was supposed to give.
But wait. Somebody call CNN, alert the media, and get me a press conference because the real headline here is the Cookie Cheesecake Bar. I came in for a cupcake and left in a committed relationship with this bar. Cookie base, cheesecake topping, mysterious magic in the middle. Not too sweet, just the perfect balance. I could not put it down. At one point I had to physically remove it from my own reach like it was toxic because I was about to inhale the entire thing in one sitting.
The vibes? Pure hometown bakery magic. Someone was working remotely at a table. Another person was there with their child enjoying a treat. The décor felt like walking into grandma’s kitchen—complete with a Barbie case full of vintage dolls and news articles celebrating the owner’s success. Kitschy, charming, and heartwarming all in one.
The staff? Sweet as pie and twice as comforting. The owner’s touch is everywhere and you can feel the love baked into every item. From cookies to cupcakes to those world-stopping cheesecake bars, it’s clear this bakery is a community treasure.
Would I recommend? Absolutely. Would I come back? Without question. And next time, Key Lime Cupcake, you and I have unfinished business.

From the moment you step into Buttersweet Bakery, you’re wrapped in the aroma of fresh-baked goods and the warmth of a business rooted in love, legacy, and community. This Black-owned gem doesn’t just serve desserts—it serves stories, pride, and a whole lot of heart. 10/10 recommend. S/o to Chef Char

Delicious treats!! Love coming here when I’m in hapeville! The smiley bars and praline brownies are my favorite!
Owner is extremely rude and passive aggressive.
A customer in line ahead of me asked if they did specials her response was your president has the price of eggs to high. Very unnecessary and negative response. Once I was ready to be helped I asked if their cookies were soft or crunchy and her response was cookies are supposed to be crunchy. Absolutely nothing is buttersweet about the owner.

I visited this shop before going to the Atlanta Airport, and I was so glad I stopped here. I had an assortment of brownies and cupcakes. I also tried a pecan tart and Red velvet cookie. The desserts are delicious and the shop is delightfully decorated. You can also sit down and have your dessert with tea or coffee. Can't wait to visit again! The service is top notch.

I can’t believe today was my first time at Buttersweet! Everything I had was delicious! The chocolate chip pecan cookies were literally the best I ever had. The atmosphere was beautiful and the service was wonderful! I HIGHLY recommend that you check them out! And they have this chocolate, coconut, nut bar that is just sinful!

They have the only oatmeal raisin cookies that I'll eat because I really don't like raisins...AT ALL! So what she's doing to have ordering them every time I come in there...I JUST DON'T KNOW! 🤗
