The very best I can say about the food at Hawg Wild is "Bless their hearts." I don't know who is back there screwing up some poor Me-Maw's recipes, but y'all should be ashamed of yourself. First, although the serving was large of my pulled pork, it was clearly from earlier in the week. Bone dry, poorly seasoned, personally I would not put it on a plate and in good conscience serve it to anyone with actual taste buds. Catfish filet was undercooked, poorly seasoned, as in absolutely none whatsoever. The "Dixie Slaw" is nothing but chopped cabbage and what could only be described as Mayo for the taste impaired. Literally, cabbage and mayo. Seriously, don't eat here. The food is an affront to bbq and southern cooking.

The Sunday special is a BBQ plate for $9.99. The generous portion of chopped pork is okay but not smoky and a bit fatty. Adding plenty of mustard sauce made it taste good. The fried okra (an additional $1.50) is just little balls of previously frozen breading. The fried squash (also an additional $1.50) consisted of 4 pieces of squash breading?!? The Texas toast helped make it a filling meal, but we weren't satisfied, and it cost over $34 for 2 specials and water.

There were few choices in town for dinner this time of year. Pulled pork was good. The ribs were a little too spicy with the rub. A nice gentleman, I assume was the owner or manager offered something as a replacement. Service was good. Overall, not bad. I'd stick to the pulled pork. Nice sized portions.

Great food. My favorite restaurant in north Georgia. The catfish is to die for. Highly recommended.

Upstairs banquet room entrance problems! NO outside lighting around entrance!! Between parking lot pavement and wooden ramp is an area that has larger pebbles and dirt unsuitable for women's heels!! Trip hazard!! (Especially at night!!) Also, one of the heels of my dress shoes caught between the boards on the walkway. A Marine Commander assisted me and pulled my shoe free. Thank you, Veteran!!The food was delicious!! The one waiter was EXCEPTIONAL in service!! The room was perfect for the number in attendance.

The service was great, the food was mostly poor. They make good slaw and potato salad. The collard greens tasted like the bottom of the pot was burned, the fish wasn't cooked enough and brisket was mostly all fat. It's hard to judge by the menu what's going to be good and what's not. Also the portions are pretty small.

Customer service rude. I ask about the sides and the MAN yells at me and said IDK then comes back with a menu and yells the sides at me . When I say what I'd like he says MAM I can't hear you talk louder!!! Food okay

After driving from Murphy to Hiawassee to check out Charlie's Creek with our Jeep, we were ready for some BBQ in a local spot. My husband and I wanted to give this place a try since we saw quite a bit of hype about it on the drive through town. We arrived at 1 pm on Sunday afternoon they close at 3 pm. Initial thoughts was the decor was cute but we could tell it was going to be pricey. Just the two of us had a 10 min wait for our table. They were short handed so we had no problem waiting. When the next two parties came in after us were told they were almost out of food, we chose to leave. We weren't about to sit down and pay for over priced BBQ that we may not have wanted but forced to order because they didn't have what we wanted. I have no idea how the food was so this is just based on the initial interaction.

I make it a habit to ear at every bbq place I see. Since my daughter goes to school in Young Harris, I'm trying all the local bbq joints. So far this is one of the better ones I've been to. We got the 3 meats and shared between the 3 of us eating. We got the sausage, pulled pork, and chicken. We all liked everything. The sides we got were good. The sauce was sweet but, not too sweet. I will try the catfish next time I'm in town.

Best bbq in Hiawassee. We use them as our annual family reunion catering. Delicious sides too.

We were told by a local that this place was so much better than Rib Country, so we decided to give it a try this past Saturday.....What a big disappointment...We told the waitress that it was our first time there (she really didn't seem to care) we asked about the to cole slaw and she didn't have any option on either....after we order it took over 26 mins to get our food....I tasted the cole slaw and changed it or bake beans...(my husband said "our bushes beans are better than these)....Our pull pork sandwiches were also very disappointing.....they had half the meat that we get at Rib Country -along with a higher price...I am posting pictures of what we got and the one from Rib Country...there's I the on on the silver tray...I would never recommend this place to anyone....sorry....we were hoping for so much more....

I've visited again and want to update my review. I ordered to go and then sat outside on the picnic tables. The sunset view is awesome!I had fish and onion rings. Both were HOT, tasty and cooked perfectly. I also like their pulled pork, smoked sausage and brisket. The food isn't the best I've ever tasted. I've been fortunate to travel and enjoy some very tasty cuisine. But this is good.

Ooooo. M.G. this place is good. So friendly!!! They were short staffed but still let us eat outside and checked on us. Food was tasty...not greasy...and the view of the lake is fabulous. We will return!

Wife and I went Friday evening. Plenty of parking available with maybe the best view in Hiawassee. No kidding!! The view was so incredible a few years ago that I made it my Screensaver...and it still gets comments. That view made me want to live here so we retired to the mountains because of the view out the front window of HWBBQ & CH. True story. The restaurant is spacious with outside tables that are worth waiting for on a warm day. The menu focuses on aforementioned BBQ & Catfish but has other items like Country Fried Steak, Smoked Turkey, Smoked Italian Sausage, Fried Shrimp & Smoked Chicken Wings. I had the BBQ Pork Plate with 2 sides ( Carolina Slaw (vinegar-based) & Baked Beans) and Wife had the Crispy Catfish filet. The pulled pork plate is legit BBQ! Nice bark w/ a proper smoke ring and juicy pork...and plenty of it. Enough for a 2nd meal. The Baked Beans were really tasty as well. I got them on the recommendation of our waitress who said they use their house BBQ sauce to make it. Great advice on her part and great service for our meal. The Carolina Slaw was oily and had an odd off flavor. Some of the slaw looked limp. Normally I like vinegar based slaw but this was the one criticism I had about my meal. My wife's Catfish was good but she thought the fish could have been just a bit more crispy. She got the Collard greens and liked them and we both liked the acclaimed hushpuppies. Great meal, great service, and as I said...great view!

The fried pork chops are tender and juicy. Best I have had anywhere.
