Umami Tavern - Jefferson

We went for my son's graduation from UGA celebration. Food was great! We ordered 4 different appetizers and 4 different dinners. All were so good! The bento boxes were fresh and plentiful, premium hibachi cooked perfectly and tempura shrimp ramen was fabulous. We liked it so much that two days later we ordered delivery and food was perfect!

I go to the Braselton location about once a week because it's so close to my job I can walk there. My boyfriend and I love closer to the new location at Jefferson. Since we're both off today I suggested we try this location out for lunch. You seriously can't hardly beat their lunch specials with the price and portion sizes. We each got a beer, split and appetizer, I had lunch tofu bento box and he had one of the lunch ramens. Ton of food for two for less than $50. The meals were wonderful and fresh. Our server, wish I got her name, was very attentive and quick to bring us our drinks and meals. This location is very different then the braselton location. This one is way bigger and a lot brighter. Both are very clean and I've never had an issue with anything I've ordered. We will be back.

I have dined at Umami Tavern for sit down and takeout several times. During this experience, the attendant literally looked around me to seat the people behind me who came in after me. When she came back to the desk, she did not greet or address me and started to walk away. I said ‘excuse me’ and asked for my order. She behaved as if I was annoying her and when I gave her my first and last name, she behaved as if she did not see my order among the 3 takeout orders sitting in the counter. She asked (again annoyed) what I ordered. I told her and she handed me the bag which clearly had my name on it. Her behavior was not in line with my previous experiences and I wanted to share so this does not happen to others.

They are 3/3 so far, amazing sushi and Poki salads. Tried 9 different rolls thus far and they are well above average. Great to have a new spot in Jefferson.

May '25: Good food but busy. 10 minutes turned into a 45 minute wait to be seated. Subsequent visits have been much better for wait times.

Not many customers, but service was slow anyway. I received my food about 15 mins before my husband received his. Food wasn't very good.

First time going, staff were nice friendly, they did not want us to see their health score (88). We had hibachi Chicken and Shrimp it was served with fried rice /vegetables, mushroom soup and ginger salad. . The meal was nice, the resturant was quiet, we were never offered refills nor asked if we wanted anything else. Our food was like warm to say the best, the vegetables were fresh not overly sauced, the rice was sticky rice converted to fried rice very little flavor - one small piece of egg on my plate. The over all the experience was okay, for the price not a place we will most likely not visit again. Good Luck!

By far one of the best Japanese Restaurants I have visited and a gem in Jefferson. Great service and priced reasonably with great portions! I highly recommend the bento lunch box and its ramen! It’s just delicious and the value is amazing! A must visit!

The hostess was very pleasant when we arrived and we sat down very quickly! Looks like they only had 1 server working the entire restaurant. It took maybe 10-15 mins before the server greeted us. Once she brought our salad/soup we ordered immediately after. Our food took 25 mins or so to come out before we received it and it was lukewarm, nothing was fresh ! The chicken and steak were very chewy ! And although we were the group who sat prior to everyone else we got our food last! We were not happy about it and was not pleased with our service experience. I’m not sure we will be back anytime soon.

A wonderful addition to the Jefferson/Pendergrass area. Excellent ambiance, exceptionally fresh sushi, and impressive lunch specials — highly recommend!

It our first time coming and the food was delicious, the server was very attentive & the restaurant was very clean. Very affordable prices & they serve massive plates of food. If you get a poke bowl, two people can share. It was delicious and will definitely be coming back again soon.
