Tortuga Jacks Jekyll

Rainy cold day so we ate inside. Menu looked good and we all ( Party of 4) decided to stop. One out of the 4 said his meal was good. My husband and I both ordered the Baja fish tacos. I had black beans he had refried beans. The fish was very dry, overcooked and fishy tasting. My black beans were the most flavorless I have ever tasted. One in our party had the veggie tacos and she said they were extremely salty. Maybe a bad day for them but we would not go back on our next visit.

On my top 3 best food and service. I work in hospitality and have been all over the world. A+++. Jorge was serving 8-9 tables and working bar too!

We usually have breakfast at our hotel, but sometimes you want something different. We saw that Tortuga Jacks served breakfast so we decided to go there. I chose the breakfast quesadilla which had scrambled eggs, cheese and bacon with a small bowl of salsa if desired. I was pleased with my choice. I also liked the robot that came to our table to deliver our meal with the server right behind. Since it was a chilly day, we dined inside but I can imagine in warmer weather this would be a fine place to dine outside and have a good view of the ocean.

Our visit here on October 18 , 2025 was the most disappointing experience we have ever had. First, let me start with the female host. She was extremely stressed out and projected how she feels about her job with every person she talked to. She never greeted anyone.She never kept eye contact. Do not waste your time coming here. The food was a horrendous mess . The rice bowl I ordered was not enough to feed a toddler. It was watery with more green peppers than rice. The green peppers look like they had been frozen for months. They were flat and did not taste good. My husband said the steak tacos are the worst he’s ever had. The steak was very dry and overcooked and had no Mexican flavor. The rice was barely edible and the refried beans had no flavor or taste. The frozen house margaritas were just frozen lime juice with no taste of tequila. Let’s not forget about the music. All I can say to the musician , is Bless your heart!

Great atmosphere! Fun & festive decor. Good was yummy & portions were large! Taco Tuesday was awesome. Service was slow during a not so busy time.

Do not waste your money. The service was excellent. Drinks were ok. The food however, was just plain terrible.
The “refried beans” were worse than from a can with an odd flavor. The rice was undercooked and flavorless. Two of our group ordered the Al pastor tacos and the meat was tough and fatty. It’s not good. Don’t eat here. Go to any resort on the island and you’ll get much better food. Much better.
If you must eat here, stick with their chips and guacamole. It was the only edible and delicious thing we had.
Our server was amazing. She was on top of it with drinks and chips refills and was a very happy person overall.

Great atmosphere, live music was great, so where the beach views. Food is mediocre nothing special drinks were not worth it, service was poor. I felt like the staff didn’t want to be bothered we waited 20 min before we flagged down a waitress and asked for service. Not attentive at all. Will not be returning.

We always come here when we're on the island. The food is always good. The staff is friendly and willing to answer questions to help you decide what you want. The live music was loaded with so much nostalgia that we had the best conversations all night, even after we left. Always a good vibe!

Fantastic food. Lots of gluten-free options. I had a burrito bowl and it was great! Waitress was slow and not very attentive.

Giving it three stars as the atmosphere is great. Food was average, service decent. Recommend going for drinks and sitting on the patio not eating.

I don't like giving bad reviews but was not sure where the hostess station was, then waited for quite awhile before someone sat us, then they did seem short handed but took awhile to take our order. The food was only mediocre

I've been to alot of Mexican restaurants and they are always good. But Tortuga is hands down my favorite!!!!!! The atmosphere was great all the staff was very friendly and helpful. The food! 100/10. Definitely a different flavor. The salsa was delicious! Our food was quick and just as good! I cant wait to go back.
