It was 2 pm, and we were the only customers. Then we found out why: the A/C was not working. It was 88 degrees inside, so we ate outside where it was only 85! Ordered Santa Maria tri-tip tacos. Beef was dry and tough as shoe leather—someone needs to tell the cook about “low and slow” for this cut of beef. Altogether bad experience.
The loaded burrito lived up to it's name with plenty tender steak & chicken. The house salsa was better than most along with the rice that came with the burrito. We had a party of 6 and everyone seemed to enjoy their menu items. I would go there again.

Food used to be wonderful here but they have changed a bit. The chicken used to taste fresh and now it taste like pre-made from the store. Lime rice had way too much lime flavoring that we couldn't eat it. However. The waitress was extremely kind and checked on us frequently. Gave it 3 stars bc the waitress was so nice otherwise would have been 1. Wish they would go back to how they were.

My second time here. First time was great, service was not amazing but food was excellent. Just left (2nd timer) FOOD WAS TERRIBLE! I ordered “beef enchiladas” , the lady said “we can try beef”. It tasted similar to hamburger helper but honestly i would have rather went to get hamburger helper at the store. The cilantro lime rice was awful, WAY to much lime. I had to spit it out. Chips were INSANELY stale. Ceviche sucked…. The only thing that was good about this place was the sweet tea.. Service was terribly awful. Bathroom was beyond disgusting. Would rather wash my hands at a citgo in the center of atlanta.

I had one of the tastiest enchiladas I've ever eaten. It was made with tender brisket and a light flour shell. It was super tasty. I should have taken a picture because the presentation was on point, too. The sweet tea hit the bullseye—not too sweet, not too weak. The seasoned rice was excellent, too. It came with black beans, but I was too full with everything else and took them to go.

Meh!...very Americanized Mexican fare. Service good, food components good but somewhere between McDonalds and authentic.
I would avoid this place.
The old owner was very nice and the place was kept clean.
I recently came and we were the only ones there. The table was super sticky and the A/C had not been turned on. Before we sat down, I remembered I went into their kitchen once for my job and saw baby roaches and food splatter on walls. Their cooler didn’t look clean either. Food was just laying out exposed in boxes in the cooler.
I made my party leave and explained how I forgot how dirty it was back there.
The old owner had cancer or a tumor and I’ve not seen him ever again. Sadly, I think he passed away or sold Maverick’s.

Once upon a time this was a great neighborhood restaurant. I’m not sure what happened but the food was so bad. Service was slow considering there was only one other table seated. Tables and floors are sticky and the whole vibe feels run down and uncared for.

Ordered Fish Tacos & Spouse ordered Chicken on a Salad. Was told the mahi mahi fish was frozen would take more time. The tacos were tasteless asked for a refund . The chicken salad came out w/o dressing. Servers were polite but the quality of food ZERO
Sorry.. repost under my account Not the same... at all..... Mavericks Johns creek appears to have been sold and moved... It is in the same little mall but moved down a few doors.. In years past it was an excellent upscale Mexican restaurant... with great ambiance. Not no more! Basic tables and chairs.. no atmosphere at all... Our young lady server was nice and did fine, but food was meh at best. When server took cocktail orders, she mentioned that she recently had a cold and couldn't taste anything so can't promise how good our drinks would be. Forgive my ignorance, but do servers normally taste diners drinks before serving? When they have a cold? Either way the drinks were barely drinkable as they were insanely strong and over spiced. I guess the strength could be a bonus for some, but not if you can't enjoy a margarita.... Again, she was friendly and nice, but.......... it just wasn't the caliber of service a once upscale restaurant should offer...... Taco salad was dry and cold.. I know.. it is a salad.. but the meat felt like it was cooked a few days ago and just tossed on. Clearly not freshly cooked for the salad. Fajitas were Ok.. chicken was a bit over cooked and dry.. again.. suspect it was pre-cooked. Meals are served on metal trays... this can be done in a cute way.. but for us it was just....here's your stuff on a metal tray... no flair or ambiance... So if you had been in years passed.. it has clearly changed (honestly it has been a while since we have been so not sure when it changed) and not for the better. In a competitive market like Johns Creek.... this just doesn't cut it...
Yikes is the main sentiment that comes to mind. The one star is for service only since I can’t review the food. 45 minutes after sitting down, we still had nothing but ice water. The one waiter working was also apparently the bartender. I asked if the margaritas were made fresh and he pointed to the room-temp dispensers on the bar and said “yeah I made these this morning”. I asked for a beer instead. 20 minutes later when the beer still hadn’t come and I saw him fishing something else out of someone else’s drink before serving it, we decided to leave. Truly one of the strangest restaurant experiences of my life. They are clearly struggling with service. We went to the pizza place next door. Quick and delicious.

I have come here a few times in the past year and each time the food has been top notch! I’m absolutely addicted to their “gringo” queso dip, super soft and melts right away it is definitely a highlight compared to other places. The quesadillas were pretty fulfilling and also appreciated the vegetarian option, my friend tried the vegan mango quinoa salad and loved it!
Service has been hit on miss at times but last visit the manager was there (or owner not sure) and I was impressed with the overall quality. Will be coming back soon!
