Shirley’s Country Kitchen

Stopped here after a delivery in Lagrange.
10$ to park. which I probably didn’t have to pay because they close and the places is deserted after 10 PM.
I always hope to find a little Jim at these truckstop restaurants that I run into but sad to say I was not very impressed with this particular country kitchen .
I think maybe I just came at the end of the day when they were almost out of food and we’re not going to make any more so I kinda had to take what was left. Baked chicken, Salisbury steak Black Eyed Peas greens some fried tilapia and cornbread, along with yams and a few other items.
The food was warm but not hot. I was given a Styrofoam plate and they serve you. You do not get to serve yourself and you get one fork they did not have iced tea. We’re out of other drinks as well so I had an ice water. It was OK to say the least I just think maybe a little bit more effort could be made But like I said, maybe I just came at the end of the day when there was nothing left and
To be honest in hindsight, I probably should’ve just cooked in my truck, but I like to give places the benefit of the doubt and try new stuff. Maybe I just need to come back earlier in the day but not the best not the worst to Shirley and her family I’m sure they’re trying very hard . It seems like in years past that truckstop was probably extremely popular and very busy like many it’s kind of fallen by the wayside and dilapidated and of course the main gas station and all that is run by Indians now like I see just about all across the country.

Old cafeteria style and Oh My WORD! The food is Fantastic! athe staff is super friendly too. If you want a good country meal with tons of flavor, you have got to try Shirleys. I have eaten a lot of Mac n cheese in my life and have never had any better than this. So creamy and delicious. The fried chicken is just like I remember as a child, so crispy. Black eyed peas were seasoned to perfection. Then to Top it off, homemade banana pudding that would make your tongue want to lap your brain out, it was so good. I HIGHLY recommend!! You will not be disappointed! 😋❤️

Food was really good, even though the hours could be extended in the evening cause after 5pm your stuck with Hunt Brothers Pizza at the Exxon. The fried chicken was very juicy and flavorful with a really good breading. The Mac and cheese was homemade, not boxed, and had a really good cheese sauce. The collard greens had a fantastic flavor. Kristine and the older gentleman were very friendly. I will be back for sure.

Semi trucks have to pay to park , cars don't.

The food was fresh and homemade! No stupid pimento in the potato salad and I think the cole slaw was made with collard greens besides just cabbage. I'm not a huge meat eater, so I skipped the yummy looking bbq pork and baked and/or fried chicken. But, it did look like I was missing out. Clean dining room and friendly helpful staff. What more can you ask for in a diner? Cottage cheese(but that's my white whale! 😆) I wholeheartedly recommend this place.

EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!

I tried to support this business several times, but never again. Someone butt dialed me, and the owner was discussing my family business, and she was VERY rude to me the last time I was there. 100% do not recommend!

I love their country cooking. Best around. Good prices too. Friendly people. Inside the truck stop. I definitely recommend it. I’ll definitely come back soon for more good country cooking. I hadn’t ate like this since I moved out of my parent’s house and that’s been several years now.

It's garbage food they are open for 6 hrs, and they had 4 customers until 4 30 pm. There's nothing else to say except service sucks.
They are just very bad.

Charges for parking, wouldnt park here unless absolutely needed too. Loves and TA and rest areas southwest on i-85 have parking free if you're not in a bind.

I needed something quick and easy before i got back on the road. That baked chicken fell off the bone!!!! I had to go ahead and finish the plate before leaving the parking lot! I’ll be back for sure

So happy and blessed to have found this gem. Much needed after being on the road.. There’s lots of LOVE put into that amazing food! Will definitely be back!
